We went here on a Sunday night, it wasn't busy. We arrived at about 6:50 pm, and there was one couple in front of us that was seated as we arrived. There was no host or hostess to greet us and we waited about 5 minutes before a passing waitress acknowledged us and said it would be a a few moments. A few moments turned into about 10 minutes, before, who I think was the host, showed us to our table. He barely said a word and wasn't friendly. At least he gave us menus and silverware. Then our waitress brought us chips and salsa, and took our drink orders. After we got our drinks, we placed our food orders. The salsa and chips were good. We waited, and waited, and waited some more. We eventually ate all of the chips, and no one came by to refill our chips or even ask if we wanted them refilled. Even when our drinks began to run low, not one server, especially not our waitress, ever noticed. Plenty of waiters and waitresses walked right by us, one waiter had come in to work when he was obviously sick with something, as he was always walking by coughing. So anyways, about 45 minutes passed when our food finally arrived. The waitress still did not even notice that my glass was near empty, and I had to ask for a refill. I did make a trip to the men's room, and was disgusted. There was paper towel overflowing the trash can, the toilet was full of urine, and the seat was also covered in urine. I don't believe any employee had checked on the state of the restroom in many hours. I decided that I was not going to use the restroom and only washed my hands as best I could. I ordered the steak taco supreme dinner, which came with rice and fries. My wife ordered a combination plate of a steak taco, shrimp taco, and an enchilada, which came with refried beans and rice. The rice for both of ours tasted of just chicken stock. The beans were bland. My tacos were okay, but the fries weren't seasoned in anyway. The enchilada tasted sweet as if the sauce had been made with tamarind candy. The shrimp taco had about 1 1/2 shrimp on it that had been chopped up, to look like more than it was. While we ate, our waitress never checked on us until it was time for the check. She also didn't ask how the food was, even wife's food had barely been touched. We paid with cash. The waitress didn't immediately go and cash us out, instead she went and grabbed plates from other tables with our payment in her hand. We waited about ten minutes for her to bring back the change, before we gave up and left. We will never return to eat here. I haven't been that disappointed in a restaurant's service or food in...
Read moreWe met a friend at Guanajuato's on a warm Sunday evening at the beginning of March. As we stood waiting for our table, chaos unfolded before us. The staff ran to and fro, maintaining eye contact with no one. We stood there for a good ten minutes before a gentleman asked if we wanted a table. In the middle of my sentence, he took off but returned a few minutes later with menus. The menus displayed the typical array of Mexican dishes offered in Milwaukee. Our server was very pleasant and returned numerous times to ask how things were. I just nodded because things weren't too good.
My cocktail was ridiculous. It was a mezcal offering with grapefruit soda. There was hardly any booze. Our food was tasteless. Including my chilaquiles. The Burrito tasted like it was once frozen and then warmed up. While the mole had a chocolate base, a weird spicy after taste was discordant, as if it was added as an afterthought. This was not grandma’s mole sauce. In Oaxaca, this mole would be a grandchild’s first attempt. I wanted to enjoy Guanajuato’s. It has a prime Bay View location, but the food let me down. Two blocks away, any food truck would prepare better food. Perhaps this was a bad night, but the competition is fierce with Milwaukee’s Little Mexico two blocks away on the other side of...
Read moreIt was my family’s first time here and we thought it was a cute and welcoming place. We ordered food right away, but the waitress didn’t ask if we wanted anything else to drink other than the water they give you. We didn’t really mind it but it would’ve been nice to have gotten a reminder. We got our food, everything looked great and tasted okay. The waitress did not check in with us to ask how our food was at all. She was very dry and would leave quickly after our short interactions. We got the bill as we saw other customers get up and pay. When we stood up the waitress QUICKLY gave us our bill and left. Didn’t say anything after… left us with a bad experience. We went to were one of the cash register was, we waited there as other waitresses were walking back and forth, they had to have seen that we were waiting to pay. So we asked other employee where do we pay? They said in the front. To the employees that walked by us a few times could’ve said something about having to pay in the front. Waited about 8-10 minutes to get helped. Overall, the food was okay but the Paloma here was really good! Please work on your customer service skills. Probably won’t go again but for the future, do...
