Sasquash Pumpkin Lager: Milwaukee (MKE) Brewing Company brewed their first beer in October of 1997. Although it's the appropriate time of year, it was not the pumpkin lager I have today. I've become less of a beer guy since my college days, but I couldn't resist the urge to pick this up. Even though I find them to be real hit or miss, I like to try at least one new pumpkin beer each fall. What caught my attention was the interesting looking design on the can of a sasquatch-like creature with a jack-o'-lantern head. It didn't even occur to me until much later that the name of the beer was not Sasquatch, but Sasquash. If you're as slow as me, it's a nice play on words that combines squash (pumpkin) with sasquatch (as in the mythical creature) into the name of this brew. I had a difficult time finding background information on this specific beer, but sources indicate it is made with both pumpkin and pumpkin spice. It is a Viena style lager that comes in at 6% ABV. Personally, I found it to have a light pumpkin flavor and it was a tad too bitter for my preference. The Sasquatch/Bigfoot may have achieved a legendary status, but this pumpkin lager is just okay 😐 Doughboy_Food_Reviews My favorite Pumpkin Beers: 1. Southern Tier Pumking Imperial Ale 2. Saint Arnold Pumpkinator Imperial Stout 3. New Belgium Pumpkick Ale 4. Cold Brew Coffee Pumking Nitro 5. Jack-O Traveler Pumpkin Shandy

my boyfriend and i are from out of town and came to milwaukee to explore. we saw Milwaukee Brewing Company and decided to stop in as my boyfriend loves beer! (he also isn’t from Wisconsin) we walked in and the nicest lady asked if we were there for the brewery tour. we explained that we have never been there before and didn’t know of a tour. she automatically explained everything we needed to know, we decided to go for it! only $15/person!!! BEST $30 we have ever spent. the atmosphere- 5/5, the beers- 5/5, the tour- 5/5, and Steve our tour guide- 5/5 AMAZING! he knew anything and everything! for $15 you get your first glass full and half full glasses for the rest of the tour! it’s a 2 hour tour with 30 minutes before for drinking and more samples. so, depending on how much you can put down in 2 hours… you definitely get your $15 worth within 30 minutes! HIGHLY recommend!! p.s. : you get a souvenir glass show below and you can buy any beer they have there! my boyfriend LOVED the signature Louies Demise (which you’ll learn about on the tour)!

Had some visitors from Europe we were entertaining and thought that this might be fun. Very clean, modern facility and the tour was about a 7.5 out of 10. Disappointed that kids 15 - 21 still had to pay full adult fare - the young girl with us was clearly bored during the tour and drinking only water while we celebrated beer - how about a soft drink or a snack for our $12? The tour began funny enough with a few videos sharing the ground rules, but it waned after that. It left me wanting more humor, audience participation and storytelling about beer making history in MKE and process. There are better tours available *cough - Lakeside Brewery - cough*. The BEER at MKE is delicious, our bartender was super friendly, but the group had more fun playing cornhole than on the tour.

Came here for the Friday night fish fry a few weeks ago. The place didn’t seem particularly busy for its size. We arrived a half an hr before the kitchen closed and specifically asked if they still had fish fry and were told yes. It took a while for a server to come by so we went up to the bar to order drinks which also took forever. The bartender oddly choose to continue conversations with people eating at the bar instead of serving us. I’m pregnant so I ordered an NA riverwest stein and was told they didn’t have that even though I could see it in the cooler. He listed of some other beers that I’ve never heard of and don’t think were na. I insisted on the na stein and pointed to the cooler. The bartender never looked but instead asked another bartender to verify they had it and help him ring it in. He then looked in 3 different places for the stein still not listening to me it was right behind us at the bar while having an annoyed attitude.

Back at the table the server finally comes but rushes us to order cause the kitchen was closing after taking forever to come by. He said he can do the fish fry we need to get it in right away. No problem… we put the order in for some appetizers and salads as well. About 40 mins later our appetizers and salads come out. Another ten minutes go by and we’re told sorry they are actually out of the fish fry and the kitchen is now closed (they don’t offer to let us order anything else!) but it’ll be comped off the bill. Oh great. We were specifically looking to get a fish fry… it appears the servers and cooks do not communicate at this establishment. And I’m pregnant and starving and was not told in a timely manner they were out of our entree after being told the opposite and not offered any alternative! It’s not 10pm and 99% of good restaurants are closed in Milwaukee. When I we go to pay the bill the fish fry’s we’re still not removed. It took 3 inquires with severs who continued to stand around and talk before a bartender removed our entrees. It took two hours to basically get a round of drinks and some apps and not receive our food. My guess is they wanted to close the kitchen early and service is...

I was in town for a Brewers game with a few other people who I went to college with and we do an annual Brewers game event in MKE. We walked from our hotel downtown to the Milwaukee Brewing Company. This was a Saturday early afternoon and it was packed by the bar and in the front area. The dinning area in the back was mostly empty. Our group of 9 was seated right away and our sever came over. He seemed like he wanted to joke around more with us then be our server, would ask multiple times over and over again that we should buy their beer and stay there instead of going to the Brewers game. The server was also just plain rude, a friend of mine at the table was looking at his phone and said to another friend look at this and pointed his phone towards the other friend. The server walked over and decided he also wanted to look and stood over their shoulder to look at the phone then stood there another minute or so watching what he was doing on this phone. When the bill came we asked if he could split it up for us and said no he didn't have time, although were the only table he was waiting on. He did say we could write out card number next to each item we got on the bill. We did this and some people paid with cash so we also wrote that on there. It then took him 30 minutes to run our cards and come back and he still had questions who was paying with cash. He then stood at our table and waited till we signed our slips and then took each one and looked at how much we tipped him. Only one person tipped well and that was the only person that received a thank you from him for coming in. Overall just a rude waiter, does not make me want to visit again.

The food overall was decent nothing that I would have to go back for again, but would try again and see if I would receive...

To sum it up, yummm, but the tour was a disappointment.

I have been to a lot of brewery tours. A lot. Milwaukee Brewing Company churns out some pretty delicious beer for the most part. Unfortunately their tour leaves something to be desired. The beer flows freely, which is hugely appreciated. I don't appreciate being limited on my beer tastings, and this is a big check in the win column for MBC.

The problem is with their tours. Their brewery is based out of one giant room, so the noise from the tasting area and other tours drowns out any hope of hearing your tour guide unless you are right up front. Some of the other tours in town do a great job of walking you through the process and giving you a lot of good information about brewing. MBC, probably tries to give you that info, but you only catch about every few words that they say. The microphones they have don't do much to help and really probably only bring up the noise level in the whole place to a higher level. I realize the only logical way to fix this is to either move... or limit your tours, neither of which are ideal or practical. My recommendation would be to hit one of the earlier tours if you want to get anything out of it besides a buzz.

One of the tours I was on here we had a great tour guide that was very friendly and from what I could hear very knowledgeable. The guide we had on this last tour was pretty rude and literally scolded several of the tourists for talking during the presentation. I understand you want to do your best to make sure everyone can hear, but you scolding a couple of guests isn't going to change the fact that the whole joint is way too loud to hear you anyway. Didn't seem to be very good customer service and actually made me feel kind of uncomfortable even tho I wasn't the...
