Just got back from a trip to Spain where we had the opportunity to have dinner in the oldest restaurant in the world in Madrid (Botin) - 16th century. Tonight we had a fish fry in the oldest tavern in Milwaukee - Landmark 1850! Get the cod! They have Wisconsin Spotted Cow beer from New Glarus Brewery on tap which you can only buy in Wisconsin. I attached a photo of their latest beer offerings They also sell Crowler cans with an old black and white photo of their 1850 tavern on them and people were having theirs filled up with their favorite tap beers to go. (we did too). I have no doubt these cans are something a beer lover would want to have in their collection. The staff and management at Landmark 1850 are super friendly, genuine and will make sure you have a good time and good eats with friends or family. Special thanks to Linda Garcia for making it such a special night! We...

Not sure it lived up to the good reviews.

The building is definitely cool. I wasn't sure at first bc there were only 2 cars in the lot, but I went in anyway.

The bartender was nice enough. She recommended a decent WI beer.

The burger was just ok. Nothing amazing. The college football game was on and gave it more of a sports bar feel. It just wasn't really my cup of tea.

The bathroom was strangely dark. I don't really like that bc I can't see if it's dirty or clean. Seemed clean enough I suppose. But would be nice to be able to see. The sink in the restroom was not good... Cold button didn't seem to work at all. Hot button seemed to give me a small amount of cold water. Had to hold it down and still just got a small amount to come out.

Neither Lyft driver had ever heard of this place and had a hard time finding it.

Anyway... I probably...

Went in on a Friday evening, no wait for a table. Ordered the pizza and it was just awful which was surprising based on the positive reviews that I saw specifically about the pizza. The pizza was a cracker thin tavern style and the under carriage was cooked fine but the cheese was barely melted and the veggie toppings were not cooked. Service was good but overall a strong do not recommend.

*Edit: Received a response from the owner for my original review in which they state that it was a temperature setting that was wrong and that they fixed the issue. This is simply not true, I did not have the pizza re-run through the oven. I surmise that way that I received my two pizzas is actually normal because otherwise why would the waitress serve it that way. I wish I had a picture to upload, but oh well. I stand by my...

The oldest bar in Milwaukee! Lots of original fixtures including 3 registers, the copper ceiling, and a large pot belly stove. But the best part is all of the original wood! Even the old window used by the cowboys to order is still there! Aside from that, the food offerings are solid, yet simple and include unique burgers and other staples. Crystal was our server and she did a great job, even letting me know they have Chimay Blue on tap, which is not that common. Plenty of TVs for sports at their lengthy bar. I am sure we will be back as they are close to the airport, and I travel quite a bit these days.

We were on a short staycation and before returning to hotel stopped in for a nightcap as the building looked interesting from the outside. What we found on the inside was amazing! Very friendly staff, particularly the owner Joel, who was more than happy to give us the history of the building and surrounding area. Good drinks, GREAT atmosphere. We can’t wait to return to try the food. If you’re anywhere near the Milwaukee airport and have some time, stop in you won’t be disappointed.
