Location and staff were lovely, along with the cold brew coffee and sport tea, but the food left more to be desired. My husband and I tried this place for breakfast because we love supporting local and new businesses, but we're not sure if we'll return. One thing that stood out to me immediately while standing in line was that the counter where the bagels and small loaf breads are kept is open, and I saw multiple flies landing and crawling all over the baked goods. I would suggest some type of enclosure or even just glass cloches over the food. My bagel was hard and very difficult to chew, while his was much softer and definitely tastier. We split an apple handpie which was good, but I'm reading others were offered theirs to be warmed up, which we were not offered and I believe that would have made it more enjoyable. My husband also ordered a bloody mary, which he was unable to finish because, simply put, it wasn't good. He enjoys bloodies frequently, and will usually power through even if it's not great, but this one he just couldn't. He left almost half of it behind. For the price, he also noted weak garnish and no chaser. All in all, for the just over $30 we spent for two bagels with spread, one handpie, a small cold brew and sport tea and a bloody, we don't believe the quality was up to par. Again, lovely location and staff, just needs...
Read moreThank you for your reply. You say you've had three business days to update your technology that may be so, but you've now had a lot of time since then to correct it so there is no extra expense to the consumer. You say that the other businesses in the area of Bayview which I have been living in for 55 years do the same thing, that's correct. But there are a lot of businesses in Bayview that do not do the same thing and have adjusted their technology to make it easier for them and the consumer at no extra charge.
Be well
Just ordered two pieces of pie online and very disappointed to know that there was a $1.50 convenience charge. Seriously $1.50 for making it easier to cut up two pieces of pie and have them picked up instead of having a crowd stand at the order line. Very disappointing that small pie has chosen to do this and take advantage of the covid-19 pandemic to charge a convenience fee to make it easier for their business to operate. I will no longer be ordering pie online and possibly no longer be standing at the window to order pie because I think this...
Read moreI had no idea SmallPie was a subsidiary of Honeypie which is closer to our home. Located in a hidden commercial pocket of Bay View, SmallPie is housed in a cute transformation of a gas station. My wife and I walked in and oohed and aawed at the cookies and pies on display. I tried to joke and kibitz with the two women working this warm Thursday morning in February, but they didn't like me. No smiles, warmth, or interaction was forthwith. They were all business.
We purchased a bunch of stuff: 5 slices of pie and at least 4 cookies. Prices were very high, but the slices were big. SmallPie ain't cheap. My chocolate chip cookie was good, but the Toffee cookie was great. My favorite pie was pistachio. Chocolate pie let me down. In summation, the baked goods were well made and enjoyable, but the price point might cause me to hesitate. I wasn't in pie ecstasy. The lack of engagement by the staff wasn't encouraging. My sense of self needs positive reinforcement. Milwaukee used to be much friendlier. Tribalism isn't good for...
