I really didn’t want to write this review. As someone who lives right across the street from this cafe, I have been frequenting this shop since it’s opening. I have one barista that I honestly have been utterly shocked by. She denied service to an innocent man based on his skin color (white). The conversations had in that shop by the employees have sincerely convinced me as a fairly new minnesotan, to move to another state. This girl talk a lot about white people, white women, how she can’t stand them etc. I finally had it after buying a cup of tea and tipping (as I always tip even though I’m not well off) and sitting at the bar listening to her go on about how she doesn’t want to live with white people anymore because they’re so… and went on to imply some things I’d rather not repeat. As a Mexican American woman with fairly white skin, I am offended. The work place is not meant for discussion about race and I’d like to think that discrimination is never tolerated but when she denied this white guy his coffee because he was a cop and the whole cafe talked crap and made it into a huge ordeal, frankly, I couldn’t roll my eyes harder. So I will never be purchasing their Costco bought hummus and expensive mid coffee again. What’s a shame is the owner means well and is actually nice. The girls who work there are nice for the most part but the conversations I’ve overheard are nothing but tasteless, tactless, rants of an extremely...
Read moreWe came in today just after the rain. It seemed like others had the same idea at the same time. I love the vibe in this beautiful coffee shop. Customers had small kids, who immediately went to the snacks and milk in the fridge available for them. People were saying hello to one another, smiling and being polite. It’s a bright, colorful, clean, vibrant environment and it has an immediate affect of everyone who enters. The atmosphere is one of a neighborhood gathering place. The coffee, tea and pastry we had were spot on. We subscribe to the subscription service provided on Bichota’s website, but we thoroughly enjoy spending time in the shop too. The baristas are excellent. We come in often and now they know our go to orders. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you are there when the owner is in the shop, he’s very friendly and you should strike up a conversation with him. Bichota is our favorite coffee shop...
Read moreI was so excited when I heard a specialty coffeeshop with a mission and vision that fits the neighborhood more than the previous shop was moving in!!! These kinds of spaces can be very generative for a community so I'm excited to see how this spot evolves. Very friendly staff and nice vibes! On top of that.... The coffee was amazing! My favorite espresso drink to order is a cortado and I often get nervous trying a new place since it's a trickier drink to make well. However!!!! Not only was the drink steamed perfectly, the taste was incredibly delicious!!!!! Much better than the cortado I had the other day at another specialty coffeeshop with far less friendly vibes.... My fiance also had that specialty tea latte and it was absolutely delicious. Didn't try the pan dulce but nice to know it's an option:) So excited...
