Based on the response the manager/owner Dan had toward a customer's review below, I would not visit this establishment nor would I recommend it.
Scroll down at a few of these responses. This is appalling.
My friend was here not long ago and mentioned how poorly they were treated. He couldn't be absolutely certain but felt as though the bartender on duty was attempting to intimidate them...w racial profiling.
Shocked, and wanting to help thinking maybe the server was having a bad day, he must be mistaken.
I looked up the reviews and told him I don't think it was him or his party per say. It looks as though this is par for course at Carbone's on Cedar.
To the mgmt team and owners: I'm not sure what the business strategy is. With all of the horrible things happening today, this might not be the best strategy. A server or mgr who is not one minded might not be a good fit for a bar and grill in the heart of Mpls, MN.
As a previous bar mgr, I know one needs to be Leary of the clientele looking for a hand out...ie reviews.
But to respond on the same level as a disgruntled customer, by calling the customer a "dick" isn't the professional approach I'd go with.
Mpls isn't that big and word travels fast when a food critic, or even active social media gets wind of this. I strongly recommend the vulgar comments from mgmt be deleted from your review responses. At that time, I'll delete my review.
Thank you for hearing me out. If this strikes an attack, my point will concrete...
Read moreWhat a horrible experience. My fiancé took me here for a birthday dinner. We had a change of servers with no knowledge as the waitress that took our order had left for the day. My chicken arrived raw (by a new server), who was quite abrubt. Our server removed my plate and had it remade. 20 minutes later, it arrived with only the chicken on a plate and no French fries. We asked why only a partial meal was given when the server took my entire meal plate. My fiancé had already finished his meal at this point. A short time later, my french fries arrived by a third server, who we later learned was the owner. I ate part of my meal and asked for a to go box and our bill. The bill arrived promptly, but after no one came to retrieve our card to pay, We noticed many staff huddled around the front counter, laughing and enjoying each other including the owner. We went up to the register. We asked if a manager was on duty, and a gentleman came to speak to us. We explained our frustration and issues with the meal and lack of service, with no apology given. The last server passed by during this time, and the server got very combative, angry, and loud. The owner came over and asked what was going on. The owner said she was told we used the f-bomb word by the waitress. We did not swear. Upon explaining this to the owner, she told us to LEAVE, AND...
Read moreUPDATE IN RESPONSE TO OWNER I wouldn't order again. They got the order wrong, misread mushroom and pineapple as mushroom and pepperoni. They confirmed they misread it but the manager refused to deliver a replacement or do anything at all. Because we went through DoorDash they said it wasn't their fault. Even though, once again, they confirmed it was their fault for misreading the order. There's a million other pizza places, not going to pick up from one that doesn't care about making their mistakes right.
02.17.2021 UPDATE: Why are you blaming your customers for using a third party system when you link to it on your website as the primary way to place a takeout order? When I called about the order being wrong I was told it was not Carbone's problem, in spite of it bring Carbone's that misread an accurate order printout. Everyone is hurting under COVID, but this seems like you're using it as an excuse to cover up for bad service. If only customers who order by phone get the privilege of communicating problems directly to you, consider giving customers that information before a big button directing them to DoorDash. Still one star, not sure what this response from the owner was even aiming to achieve, besides an even l ess...
