Read moreI had an incredibly disappointing experience at [Hibachi Restaurant], and I feel compelled to warn others about their shady pricing practices and terrible customer service.
Yesterday, I visited this restaurant and purchased a cream puff. As is their usual process, they weighed the item and charged me $6.36. However, when I returned today to buy the exact same item, the owner suddenly tried to charge me $15—more than double what I paid the day before!
When I pointed out the discrepancy and mentioned my previous charge, instead of resolving the issue professionally, the owner got rude and dismissive, blaming his employee for the incorrect pricing. I even told him I wouldn’t mind paying $10, but I wasn’t comfortable with $15 for the same item I bought at a much lower price just the day before. His response? A cold “Take it or leave it.”
To make matters worse, another customer behind me was also overcharged for his food and expressed frustration. Rather than addressing the issue, the owner ignored our concerns and basically told us to leave if we didn’t like it. Instead of using the scale (which is the standard method they use to price food), he manually counted my cream puffs one by one, pulled out a calculator, and tried to justify the $15 charge by claiming each one cost $0.70—which still didn’t add up!
When I refused to pay an unfair price, he outright kicked me and the other customer out of the restaurant and said we were no longer welcome. And when I mentioned that I would be leaving a review about my experience, he mockingly encouraged me to do so, as if he didn’t care.
To make matters even worse, after leaving the restaurant, I went to Aldi and found a 30-piece box of cream puffs for only $5—less than what I originally paid at this restaurant for just a few! That just proves how ridiculously overpriced they are and how they’re trying to rip off customers who don’t know any better.
This entire experience was beyond unprofessional. If they are willing to scam customers over something as small as a few sweets, imagine how much they could be overcharging families coming in for full meals! If you plan to eat here, check your receipt carefully and be prepared for a rude, dismissive attitude if you question their pricing.
I do not recommend this place at all. Stay away unless you’re okay with being ripped off and...
Read moreHad a really great experience there. Have stopped here twice now after different events at the Minneapolis Convention Center. It's only about a 10-minute ride to this place from there.
Not too crazy about the location, as it seems a little filthy on the corner of the busy intersection there. There's a lot of people standing around on the corner.
There's plenty of parking so no issues there. Never had a problem with parking.
The Price is Right for a very good buffet style restaurant. Roughly $20 a head.
There is a Hibachi Grill and it's back in the corner, so you have to look for it. The selection is not very much there, but it works.
Otherwise, there's plenty of different food to choose from on the buffet. Which has a very good selection of Asian style Foods and US style Foods. My favorites are the Japanese Chicken along with the Beef and Broccoli are my favorite.
One nice thing is they have unlimited beverages there. You can have your choice of either a booth or table. Both are great selections but I do prefer the table and chairs over the booths. Just because of the ease to get in and out.
The staff was friendly and easy to understand.
My only issue with this place was the cost on my second visit. In retrospect it's my fault. I was looking at the Dinner board and not the Lunch board, where this information was listed at the very bottom. The note of an added 10% gratuity to parties of six or more. My first visit was only four people and my second visit was of six people. My second visit, I ended up paying an extra $12. Not going to lie, kind of sucked cuz I wasn't expecting it. There's really no reason for it at this style of restaurant, and we are seated at two separated tables. I would go again but I would split the check.
Just be aware of the 10% added gratuity charge on parties of...
