I came in for my first time at this location on the Chinese/vietnamese new year . Missing my grandmother , it was her fav holiday.
I gave my new yeats greeting in vietnamese to the person who seated me and he just didn't seem to care and wanted my order asap. I even asked if he was vietnamese and was happy to wish him a new year . But his hastey need for my order threw me off. There was only one other group seated who was already finished with their food. Why the rush? No smile. Unfortunate that maybe he was already started on a bad start for the day?
Eggrolls are nearly dry but were still fantasic! They pre roll them and froze them, these are super hard and time consuming to make so this is entirely understandable.
I'm all about supporting small business, but when u are a small buisness wouldnt u want to be a but more personable? the atmosphere of the place is very green with plants which I love . I would eat here again but would probably just do the sandwich and appetizers .
The coffee isn't traditionally made with Cafe du monde,, I can tell. It seems it's a premix of some kind. Not the same as the French press with condense milk . Very muddled
The pho broth is bland. But acceptional. Your basil will not come on the side. The cilantro and basil will already be precut into ur soup, so cilantro soap tasters beware. You also won't get lime, they will bring you lemon if u request it.
A new group of ppl came through and of course they get greeted happily. This time by some other staff members from the kitchen so I can tell who really runs the place , so no hard feelings. Whether it was a happy greeting when I came in or not I still stand by my opinions on the food and taste.
Seems more of a fast food vietnamese rather than food made with love and care. I heard the microwave beep 3 times during my stay :)
I see good ratings on their smoothies so I'll need to try those but for those who say good things about the pho and banh mi I wonder if they had a different chef or if these people don't understand...
Read moreI ordered the #16 beef noodle soup, 2 egg rolls and #15 chicken rice
#16 Beef Noodle Soup Broth was hot and spicy. Was a bit more sweeter than I expected. Had nice chunks of beef in it. Cost $8.95 Verdict: Good value Will I eat it again? Yes I will, would be nice on a cold winter day.
Egg Rolls I thought the rolls were way too skinny for me. Nice texture and nice taste. I’ve found that every person does their egg rolls differently so I cant ding them too much but they were probably skinnier than most but certainly longer than most as well.
Cost $3.95 for 2 Verdict: ok value Will I eat it again? No
Chicken rice - I didn’t think much of it before I tasted it. But man this was the first time ai tried something like this and I have to say I am a fan. But I thought it was a bit more expensive compared to portion size. Came with shredded white chicken, kind of a fried rice (I honestly don’t know what it was), pickled carrots and garnished with cilantro.
Cost $8.95 Verdict: ok value. Will I eat it again? Personally I would not, but my wife and kids loved it. And I have picky eaters. If that’s...
Read moreI’ve been a regular at My Huong since there were only three tables in the place. Tracy (the owner) and her well trained and supervised staff put out the highest quality and most consistently excellent Vietnamese food on Eat Street (and no, that’s not an exaggeration though the competition is fierce!). What makes it so good? Attention to detail. Tracy works the front and the back, and personally supervises food preparation and makes it a point to talk to each and every customer, give them suggestions on choices and makes sure that what comes out is always amazing. Take a look at her spring rolls: each hand rolled with exquisite attention to detail, the inners carefully stacked and always fresh to give you the perfect melange of flavor with each bite; the pho broth is perfect, the vegetables and meats done just right so that every spoonful is a hit of awesome.
Go there. If you’re a Vietnamese food aficionado, order the standards and see what you think. If you’re new to the cuisine, ask her help. She’s always there. And she’s never, ever wrong about what’s good, because...
