Title: A Hidden Gem of Authentic Ramen in Minneapolis
My experience at Ichiddo Ramen was nothing short of remarkable. Despite visiting during a quieter hour at 4 PM, the staff provided a heartwarming welcome that instantly set a positive tone for our dining experience. Every staff member, from Jess in the kitchen to the attentive waitresses, greeted us with warm, sincere smiles - a testament to the excellent service culture they've nurtured.
I had heard some online chatter regarding undercooked noodles, so I approached my order with a touch of caution. But to my delight, the noodles were cooked to absolute perfection. It's important to realize that in the US, many of us are accustomed to overly soft, overcooked noodles. The slightly firm, al dente texture of Ichiddo's noodles, however, is a mark of authentic ramen and is far from being undercooked. It was a refreshing change, and one that truly enhanced my meal.
As for the rest of the experience, Ichiddo ticked all the boxes. The quality and taste of the food were top-notch, and the portions were generous, satisfying even for big eaters. The interior decor further enhanced the dining experience, exuding a tasteful blend of modern and traditional aesthetics.
For those who have previously left negative reviews, I implore you to revisit with an open mind. Understanding the intricacies of authentic ramen could lead to a more gratifying experience.
I wholeheartedly recommend Ichiddo Ramen to all my family members and coworkers seeking an authentic ramen experience. I will undoubtedly be a frequent patron, revisiting this delightful corner of Minneapolis regularly. My visit to Ichiddo Ramen was an experience that not only exceeded expectations but truly provided a taste of Japan in...
Read moreWent their for lunch with my wife and 2 kids (5 and 7). We ordered Char Sui Ramen (w/ extra noodles), Beef Donburi, and Tan Tan Ramen.
Before I go into my review, I would suggest that if you want to try this place to not bring young kids. There is no children's menu, and the food may not suit their taste.
The Good: food is very flavorful, tasty, everything I was expecting. Atmosphere was clean, decorative, and a lot bigger than appears from the outside. Staff was very friendly and curtious.
The Bad: portions were WAY too small for the cost. We ordered the Char Sui Ramen with extra noodles, thinking the extra noodles and an order of beef Donburi would be enough for the kids. The Beef Donburi I would question it to be a kid size portion. Had to order another order for the kids. My kids are both small eaters and weigh 38 and 46 lbs. Usually when we go out, 1 adult portion is more than enough for the kids. None the less, this was definately not enough for an adult. Especially for a dish that is 2/3 rice.
After spending over $50 on 4 entrees and a tip for lunch, and my wife and I left there hungry. My wife and i could have split another order of the Ramen , but we weren't going to spend another $15, or $70 total on lunch for what is suppose to be street food. Though the food was very good, not sure the money is worth it for the type of food.
I would say it is worth trying, but don't expect the big portions like the neighboring Pho places. Keep that in mind and I don't think you will be...
Read moreIchiddo ramen made a pretty good first-impression on me.
The presentation of everything was very well done. The menus, themselves, were honestly the best, easy-to-read, and modern menus I've ever seen. Alongside that, the ramen looked a e s t h e t i c . Like I was blown away.
The service wasn't anything special. We were seated quite quickly, had some time to choose, got checked up on, then had our checks delivered. No up-selling or anything, which nice I guess, but it was a bit awkward.
The food also didn't impress me that much. Above average. I asked for a beef ramen with added spiciness ($12). It wasn't bad and I ate everything, but the only real flavor I tasted was from the spiciness of the broth. The meat, the veggies, the noodles, didn't seem to have any flavor-- like it was just thrown in last minute. I also had something similar to dumplings as an appetizer, but not anything special at all. Decent for sure, but it was $4, so I didn't think it was much of a loss.
The only problem I had was the bland noodles. The noodles were definitely not the best thing. They weren't soft nor absorbent to the broth, which I didn't like.
To wrap it up, this place didn't have anything special except the presentation of everything. No popping flavors and nothing very memorable in terms of the food's...
