I've been a few times and tried the gyros (best option, in my opinion), a couple fried food items, and this most recent experience a couple weeks ago, I tried the Beef Tips and Rice. They told me over the phone that it's not really beef tips, it's just chopped up steak. The flavor was good, the amount given was an entire to-go container full of rice, steak and peppers (two meals, for sure!). I think it also comes with sauteed onions, I requested no onions. Food was hot, I ordered ahead for pickup and waited just a couple minutes after arrival for 4 meals. The biggest bummer was that the other meals didn't come with sauce that they wanted (there was salad dressing but no steak sauce that I guess they would've used, I wasn't aware or I would have made sure to double check), and we got two packs of silverware rather than what we needed for 4 people.
Everything here is good/ok, not phenomenal but not terrible either! I recommend calling ahead since the lobby is small and it's not very comfortable to...
Read moreOlympic Cafe has two (2) locations that I am aware of on Broadway Ave in North Minneapolis. This location is a little hole in the wall. It is a difficult place to find, a difficult place to find parking for, (some may feel like they've rolled the proverbial dice in regards to encounters to and from the cafe lol 😋) and can be a difficult place to obtain the food even once inside the cafe. But...there are certain things worth waiting for....and if you've made it this far...the fries in this cafe (when served fresh and hot!) I believe are the best on "The Ave" hands down! A bummer that they, along with the chicken wings, are hit or miss in regards to taste, size and quality. Even at there best, the wings lack in flavor and ingenuity. The gyro sandwich is not bad, but, also not great. The flavor is bland but....they include fries! Hopefully you get good french fry representation...
Read moreWent there for the fish and chips, got in a conversation about consolidation of wealth at the top echelons of society. Really. So, I'ma say, who the he!! needs Anchor, across the water? Fish was great. Fries were perfect. Fried "Oprah" nuggets were tender, tho maybe kind of bland. I should have a joke for that.. was hella funny riffing off of that with the counter guy. So alright, I got the 4pc. Cod. It really was bomb. They are blowing it tho on the tarter sauce and the coleslaw. The tiny little thing of slaw was super cute looking but really sucked. The tarter is in packets. If they improved on those two items there would be no reason for anyone to go to Anchor. I need to try their gyro. To...
