Customer service: lacking. At least from my experience. Google Reviews is the great equalizer for business/patron accountability, and thus, I will use it as such. It was 9pm, not a busy time on a Sat evening. I ordered a vegetarian croissant, priced $5. I ordered a Blackout coffee, labeled on the menu as $3.50. I was charged a total of $10 by the shorter, blond barista. When I realized the mistake, I went back up to the counter to mention it. The taller, tattooed barista seemed receptive and willing to refund me the difference, but she had no way of doing so herself. The shorter barista returned to explain to me a litany of different prices for different variations on their drinks, depending on preparation method, including hot drinks, hot drinks on ice, cold brews, 16oz serving sizes, etc., all of which were listed conveniently in their computer system but nowhere to be found on a clearly labeled menu available for public view. Apparently, my variation of the Blackout drink cost $5, ironically the MOST expensive version. There was no mention of an upcharge when I purchased the drink, nor was there any way for me to easily understand the complicated pricing system simply based on word-of-mouth, even if I HAD been informed before my card was eagerly run through.
At the very least, I was offered another drink free of charge. But I didn't want yet another full glass of coffee at 9pm at night. All I wanted was a refund for $1.50. They refused to offer that to me. And plus, they couldn't warm up my croissant. Because a gigantic, well-established, corner shop cafe is equipped with ZERO microwaves, despite them selling pastries that sit in refrigeration all day. Yup. Go figure.
That said, nice atmosphere and decoration, though a bit dark, but I realize that is the ambiance here. They sell their own craft coffee beans as well with some very interesting taste notes, though I haven't tried any myself yet. Tasteful, eclectic choice of trendy, upbeat music reminiscent of an indie H&M, played at decent, not too loud, not too soft volumes, though the harder-edged tracks that come on randomly aren't necessarily conducive to getting work done, nor would the lyrical content be suitable for underaged ears. This part sounds pretentious, I know, but it's all in the details. Particularly when it comes to customer service.
I was gonna spend the evening here until they close at 11pm, which is thankfully later than most places. But nah, Imma just head over to Hard Times Cafe. Sucks, cuz this place would've...
Read moreI am a regular at this location and I’ve never has an issue here I love the atmosphere the baristas the vibe it’s usually really great up until recently there is new employee who is so rude and actually harasses people my personal experience was walking in and showing my vaccine card which is no issue but we sat down and were planning on getting coffee during our stay but not right away this employee which may I add is just not welcoming what’s so ever her whole tone is just rude she has brown curly upper back length hair and she’s honestly the oldest employee I’d seen here she takes it upon herself to approach my friend and I who are here 3-4times a week basically regulars and she goes on to say you’ve been here for an hour while she’s looking at her watch and says if your gonna sit in the cafe then you need to purchase something in a rude tone and mind you we were already talking about what we were thinking of getting but her approach made us not want to make a purchase anymore then as my friend goes to get coffee and we’ve been sitting in the cafe she’s takes it upon herself to ask for vaccine card when we already showed it when we walked in it’s really frustrating when rude employees make a friendly environment ugly I honestly don’t know if I wanna keep coming back to this location because she changes the atmosphere i love and I’m use to when...
Read moreThis used to be our choice whenever in the twin cities for the consistent coffee and cool ambience (especially at this location). HOWEVER- will likely not return due to the less than poor service- specifically the awful attitude of the barista there. After 3 consecutive bad experiences we've decided to never go back- I'm done with the sour attitude of the baristas at this location spoiling a good coffee. It's not such an outlandish request to ask for coffee to be served in porcelain or glass at a third wave coffee shop - AND it doesn't warrant the eyerolls and sarcasm from staff. The "reason" of only being able to serve in paper apparently is due to an ability to wash the cups 30 minutes before closing... with 2 baristas and a handful of ppl in the cafe - this is ridiculous. Our last visit was it for us- we arrived 20 minutes before closing and could not get a coffee- they were only doing drip or a cold brew. They were no longer serving coffee at a coffee shop. 🤷🏾♀️ We won't go back. It's really too bad because we used to love this place and would frequent often.. we are just sick...
