Cafe Renaissance provides what I feel to be the most unique dining experience in St. Cloud. While there are numerous nice restaurants that provide great food, pleasing atmosphere, and great service, none do as good of a job with all three as Cafe Ren.
Food: There are many different food options available and I've never been disappointed by anything that I've chosen, nor has anyone I've dined with. Middle-Easter, Mediterranean, Indian, American; the entree choices are varied and delicious. They also happen to have a very respectable number of gluten free options including appetizers, entrees, soups, salads, and deserts; their Basmati rice is also downright amazing. Bonus: the appetizer bread given with every meal is the best I've ever had and is perfectly made every time.
Atmosphere: One of the most unique offerings that Cafe Ren has is it's atmosphere; this restaurant has the classiest feel of any restaurant in St. Cloud and the surrounding area. This is accomplished by a very pleasing, yet not distracting decor, comfortable table layout that never feels cramped, and of course the local pianists brought in.
Service: Many restaurants will have a few good service staff along with maybe one or two really outstanding staff members. Cafe Ren seems to have found all the best waiters and waitresses in the area and hired them. Rarely is the service we receive just really good; it is almost always exceptional.
Overall: If my wife and I want a nice night out, this is always the first place we consider. It's a little more expensive for the St. Cloud area but considering what you get for your money it's worth every penny. Whether you live in the St. Cloud area or are just rolling through, if you haven't tried this place out I highly suggest...
Read moreCafe Renaissance was a great dining experience.
Their chef prepares entrees that are with real ingredients -- quality first. These entrees are delicious and plated with an artistic flair -- a delight to the eye and taste buds. Although, due to Covid19 the Cafe Renaissance has only a diner menu, prices, and times -- reservations are suggested.
Even though, the Cafe Renaissance is one of our most favorite restaurant for many years. I felt the menu entrees, soups, and desserts portions did not reflect the price, or added charge. Soup for the dinner entree were the same size as the appetizer bowl -- one laddle. This was regardless if their was a premium added charge to upgrade the soup selection, or it was selected as a diner entree.
I Additionally, I did not like the new Bakula log; in comparison to the former special order Bakula slice offered in past years.
Nonetheless, I still very much highly recommend the Cafe Renaissance for a fine dining experience. That is, even with only dinner menu prices, smaller entree and soup portions; with recent menu selection changes, and premium added charges.
I hope the Cafe Renaissance resumes a lunch menu, prices, and times in the future; or offers 3-5pm early bird dinner menu and dicounted prices. And give two (2) laddels of soup with a dinner entree; with a larger dinner soup entree for a meal, too.
Thanks Cafe Renaissance for being the best Mediterranean dining restaurant in the Saint...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place. The service here is close to perfection, maybe a little too "on top of it" where I did feel a little like I was being hurried into ordering.
We got the Spinach Artichoke dip for an appetizer, it was great. I got the French onion soup, it was pretty good, I'd get it again.
The main course was disappointing. I got the scallops which were surprisingly flavorless- cooked well and the texture was right but so bland. It was paired with equally flavorless rice that was rather dry. I also received some vegetables which had the most flavor on my entire plate, not from being seasoned- just good veggie flavor.
My partner got the halibut, I had a few bites of that but it was also not great, it was visibly seasoned but didnt taste like it and was also so dry. Beautifully plated though.
Got a creme brulee for dessert, over all very good. I did notice some parts (mostly just when I tried to scrape up from the sides) had uneven lumpy texture.
Really enjoyed the piano player, he played a large variety of music with a high...
