New Location Opening-Not Impressed Now before y’all think I’m marking things down simply because it was crazy busy and disorganized…I’m not. I factored that in. It WAS extremely busy, which I understand brings significant challenges. The Drive Thru line was so long we went in. Parking was tough, but again, only open for about a week, so that’ll happen. The interior was super clean, and the menu board was very easy to read and understand (with a little help from Steve the opening trainer at the counter). We found a table surprisingly easy. Despite the crazy level of business our order came out pretty fast. The meat in the burgers is fresh to order, and you can tell. The fries were hot. A service person, carrying a tray of condiment packets, making and straws came by several times. Nice touch. The issues? There were many. 1. Counter order girl forgot to give us a number so we had to get up and check for our order. Came out fairly quick. No biggie. 2.The opening staffing was super overdone. This resulted in 7-8 employees sitting at a table near us while on break, which wouldn’t have been a big deal, except we were treated to overhearing their profanity. In front of our seven year old. Trainers missed that one! 3. The default mustard add-in for burgers isn’t a problem, except that whoever built our burgers overdid it by several ounces. Not good. Had to scrape it all off. 4. The fries were hot, but nothing special. Very similar to Mickey D’s. 5. The ā€œchocolateā€ shake was not drinkable. Strange metallic and chalky aftertaste. 6. My double patty cheeseburger was $12! 7. The buns are basically un-toasted white bread, and cold to boot. 8. The pickles and tomatoes in our burgers were less than fresh and not tasty. Lettuce was crisp and fresh. The trainer (without being asked) at the counter did recommend a less expensive kid meal option for our little boy, which was a nice touch. The cashier girl though? Not one smile through the whole ordering process. In general the brand new staff seemed checked out, and not invested in their jobs. It’s a big (not in a good way) contrast to a new Chik-Fil-A opening. We might go back, but we’re in no hurry. BTW it isn’t inexpensive.

Currently here waiting for my food the store is not franchise so they do not offer give me the option to use promo codes or coupons. Depending on when you come and who's they are you're more than likely will be greeted by girls in high school.... They are very talkative they are working but they tend to lack inconsistency and knowing when and where to socialize... Currently I've been in here since 9:15 it is currently 9:24 and I'm still waiting for my food there is multiple better yet more than enough hands in the kitchen but still it seemed to order to take quite some time to come out.... That goes for the drive-thru and the takeout orders... There is a manager here by the name of Zariyah.... Ms l. Zariyah is all hands on deck though for what we observe she could use some assistance as far as Manning outside inside in the kitchen... But great manager nonetheless. They are kind they are respectful again just need a little more emphasis on being consistent and no one went downtime is actually downtime Also I'm not sure what is going on in the kitchen but while I'm here there are also quite a few customers that have to keep returning back with their order to get it made correctly especially with such a simple menu Update next day It's 15 til 6 and it is jam packed 2nd picture next day... The staff seems to be the same from yesterday so more than likely I came at the time. If the same shift crew. The front staff Brigett, Vallery, and Danye are very well spoken with customers, a few customers are a bit unhappy with the order mistakes but that can be worked on(kitchen staff) . Now time to enjoy another large chocolate shake and she didn't shirt me either TO THE RIM šŸ˜‹

Here’s my take on the new Charlotte Whataburger (plus a little brand context for folks new to it.) Whataburger started in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, founded by Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton, and became famous for its orange-and-white A-frame stores and oversized buns. The family sold a majority stake to BDT Capital Partners in 2019, which helped fuel expansion east. North Carolina got its first location in Gastonia in May 2025 and Charlotte’s Albemarle Road spot opened in September. Now the food: I finally went to see what the hype was about. For me, hype often equals nostalgia... people get excited because a place from ā€œback homeā€ arrives in their new city. I didn’t grow up on Whataburger (long live In-N-Out), so I came in clean and ordered the Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger which had two patties, bacon, American and Monterey Jack, grilled onions, and that sweet-heat pepper sauce. I added tomatoes because every burger should have them, IMO. It’s a massive fast-food burger and makes you wonder why anyone would choose a basic drive-thru when this exists. For fast food, it’s leagues above most though not the best I’ve ever had, and it still can’t touch a great local smashburger (think SureFire at Camp North End or Bae’s in Mooresville). The onion rings were fine but needed more crunch. Overall: not my personal GOAT, but if you grew up with Whataburger, having one in Charlotte is pure nostalgia and I can’t hate on that

Dined in at 8:30pm on a weekday night. Ordered at the kiosk after downloading the app. The app does nothing to "check you in" or anything like McDonalds app. Oh well.

Ordered a double cheeseburger meal and the buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich (also fries and drink). Was $24+ after tax. The food took longer to come out than expected with the amount of workers scurrying around in there. Too many high school kid staff trying to socialize and flirt with each other in-between completing work tasks. The burger was okay, the patties weren't hot and weren't fresh....... and taste exactly like Sonic Drive In (which I like). Decent taste, poor execution. They screwed up and put lettuce on the burger when I asked for none. Picking it off took all the mayo with it. Would have been a great burger if the patties were hot and juicy. The chicken sandwich was mediocre. Chicken sandwiches that consist of multiple strips......very lame. You're often left with bites consisting of empty bun cavities of nothing between the strips. Got it on brioche bun. The bun was either very stale or "toasted" however the menu mentioned nothing of brioche buns defaulting to being toasted. Regardless.....total trash...and not up to temp....not warm/hot enough to have been recently toasted and certainly not buttered. Lastly the fries; they were salted nicely and taste great....but most of them were the small 2 inch slivers that are impossible to dip into the dip cups. The spicy ketchup was nice. Got a "gravy cup" on the side to dip my fries into. It lacked salty umami flavor and was fairly watery. Pass.

I was so excited for this place to open, I've been patiently waiting for the hype to subside so I can visit and not wait forever. Tonight there were only 2 other tables dining in with me and 3 cars in the drive thru....and my food still took forever and it wasn't NEAR fresh enough to be enjoyable or worth $24. If I wanted to spend big bucks on cold hamburgers I'd just goto the new Wendy's down the road closer to me. Get a clue Whataburger or you'll be gone...

I was this location on 10/24/25. I was the only customer at the counter, waiting patiently for 4 to 5 minutes while no one asked me if they could take my order. After ordering at 10:14 am, it was 10:36 before I received my order. The restaurant was busy inside or the drive thru. That was the start of my bad customer service. One of the ā€œ3ā€ rude employees walked from behind the counter and with an attitude and extended arm handed me my order. I took my order of ā€œ2ā€ sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches and turned away to leave the restaurant. That employee, as I was leaving the restaurant mad a rude comment, in a tone I could hear. ā€œHe just snatched that bag from meā€, I turned around and re-entered the restaurant to voice my displeasure with her comment. I told her she has a very bad attitude and should not be that way towards customers. She continued with her attitude while ā€œ2ā€ others joined in. I felt ganged up on. The other two kept telling me, ā€œOK, YOU CAN LEAVE ā€œ. They said this to me at least 3 times each person. So, I asked to speak to the manager. I asked if we could speak outside. We talked outside and I voiced my opinion. Employees should be respectful of customers and not rude disrespectful thugs. The lady manager listen to my concerns respectfully and professionally. I have been a Whataburger customer sense 1975, in Tallahassee, Florida. I grew up in a family owned restaurant. Have managed Burger King fast food restaurants. And owned my own multi million dollar company. ā€œNEVERā€ have I had this type of an experience. I would have fired all three employees on the spot. My intent was to give helpful advice and constructive criticism for management. I am passionate about Whataburger and was glad to see the one open on 24/27 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte NC.Please, teach your employees that the customer...
