Restaurant is pretty on the inside. Service is slow...could see the irritation starting to develop on the faces of the customers around us. The owner seems nice but I do not think the kitchen was able to handle the service when there are multiple tables.
Food was not that great...left feeling like I wasted my time, money, and calories. Asked for onion chili uttapam they gave us uttapam with onions and then chillis just thrown on the top. I asked the owner shouldnt the chillis be mixed in the batter like the onions are? Especially if you asked us what we would like in our uttapam....the owner tried to cover it up like this is how it should be served...awkwardddd. The batter was raw/doughy in the center, not thoroughly cooked.
Ordered a masala dosa...yikes. Dosa was an awkward in-between of not crispy and not soft so just a good ole rubbery dosa. Not well made unfortunately.
No one came around to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything else...lack of customer service. We paid up at the counter cause we were not sure if anyone was ever going to come bring us a check.
When we paid, owner did not even bother asking how was everything....he probably already knows that they are doing sub par.
Would not recommend, would not return. Competition is just too fierce in Houston, they have to step...
Read moreThis is a vegetarian restaurant that recently opened. I thought I would try it, as it is close by. The interior is clean and neat. The staff greeted me as I entered. I ordered the masala dosa (potato). The food came fast and I noticed that it had purple onions in it. Typically, the ones I've had did not have onions. I didn't ask about it and thought that is the typical way for this restaurant's masala dosa. The potato filling was a little bit salty, it was not a big amount, the coconut chutney, however, was good (but coconut chutney is not a difficult dish to make)... overall the dish was mediocre -I've had better ones in the shops on Hillcroft. When I checked out, the waitress came to my table and quickly reviewed what I had ordered. I did not get to see the bill on that little card reader. When I got to my car, I checked my receipt. They had charged me $1 for the onions that I did not order. Had I known that they were going to charge me for those onions, I would have sent my order back. When I first got the dish, I did not want to bother the store owner to send my food back because of the onions. After I checked the receipt, I didn't go back into the store and talk to them about the $1 charge. I will not be going back to this place. I can get better tasting masala...
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten at this place a few times now because it's just so close to our home and they offer Jain/no onion no garlic dishes.
We've had a few hiccups with some service/food issues in our visits which is okay. Overall we were pretty satisfied.
But I will tell you what's special about this place - the owner of this place goes above and beyond. Like seriously this guy cares. I don't think any other Indian restaurant (or restaurant for that matter) cares like this guy.
My wife left a review a few weeks ago and it was a mediocre review. Can you believe the owner somehow found a way to contact her, genuinely asked her for her feedback on how they can improve, and took her suggestions. He even said he would improve the menu and offer some of her suggestions. I've never seen any owner do that.
As soon as she told me that, I decided to write and post this review because this guy well deserves it. You want to see people like this succeed. There's nothing wrong with making a mistake in the beginning, but this guy shows how to turn that into an opportunity to make a...
