I scheduled a Mother’s Day lunch on Sunday, only to have to reschedule for Monday because a member of our party wasn’t feeling well we rescheduled not thinking anything about it for every time we’ve ever been to top of the rock we’ve always had a wonderful dining experience. This time was very different everything of course was beautiful like in the pictures my mother and daughter this was their very first time for an experience at your establishment so that they can experience exquisite dining at its best only we didn’t have exquisite dining our Server I feel like could’ve done more to correct the problem our food was horrible the salsa was an in in eatable the guacamole didn’t have any onions in it which to me was a plus because last time I came and had too many onions. It had way too much cilantro there for all you could taste was cilantro not guacamole. Two members of our party ordered the hillbilly platter when we got the food and we noticed that both tacos were really gummy maybe they’ve been sitting up there too long not sure but they tasted stale and old and they did not have Al Pastore meat .also they enchiladas were on in in edible was a folded tortilla with no cheese no sauce and the quesadilla look like it had been made yesterday there was no sauce or cheese on the enchilada Two members of our party order fajitas and we’re OK with the fajitas but the meat taste like they dumped too much chili powder on them as is the salsa as well this was definitely not a a real Mexican type cuisine meal let alone a world-class dining meal . it was a thrown together bc the chef of the day was off that day. apparently is off is what we were told and this is the product that we got was our luncheon with an in in edible food that we had to have taken back and have to wait for other food to be cooked when it came to the end of our meal they didn’t even comp it. Our bill was 250.00 When we go to relate to our server howI feel like $250 for a ticketIt’s like a smack in the face for we planned on spending at least $300 for the exquisite dining experience but yet not once got an exquisite dining experience my mother use the words “” I hate to tell you Rhonda but this food was disgusting and I would never pay this amount of money for food like this this is garbage “ and for my mom to say that on her Mother’s Day lunch was really disheartening especially since we spent a couple hundred dollars at the restaurant a couple hundred dollars at the golf course and a couple hundred dollars on the golf tour, only to walk away majorly just disappointed I’ve always left ravishing reviews for top of the rock and the buzzard bar because we are regulars as we eat there a lot but this time was a major disappointment and like I said having to pay a couple hundred dollars for a lunch that my mom was majorly disgusted that really was just like a smack in the face I feel like I’ve been ripped off and I don’t know that anything can compensate that for you can’t redo a Mother’s Day lunch my mother and daughters expectations were top of the line and they got bottom of the bottom of the line service bottom of the line food and at the end of the day I just feel like we walked away with a horrible experience that somebody needs to know just because the chef is off for the day doesn’t mean that everybody in the restaurant has to pay at least that was the excuse we were given to buy our server he said the chefs not here today so that’s probably why the food is the way that it is because he’s just not here today and the rest of them did the best they could but really that’s an excuse and for world-class dining as you described in your on your website that’s not world-class dining to me understand I’m a little frustrated and a little upset and feel like I shouldn’t even have to waste my time doing this review but at the same time I feel like somebody needs to know and upper management . Maybe they’ll do something to...
Read moreThe price is here are much too high for either the quantity or quality of food. The quality of the food is fine but the servings are pretty small. That would be fine if the price were appropriate. I would not choose to come back here to eat again though. The view is beautiful and the idea of eating in an Old Barn is novel. But definitely not worth the prices. Our waiter was friendly but we had a very long wait for our food. I noticed we sat for long stretches with empty glasses of water without the waiter ever coming back to see if anyone would like some more to drink. Since we were sitting there for such a long time waiting for our food, it would have been nice to have a waiter be a little bit more attentive. We had to wait for a table as well. I ordered the mango avocado salad and added grilled shrimp. I thought spending $35 on a salad was outrageous, but I assumed it was probably going to be the most amazing salad I've ever seen at that price. My aunt ordered the same salad and she thought they accidentally had given her a side salad because it is so small. They didn't put the shrimp on my salad as I requested. So they brought back the shrimp for me after I asked about it. The shrimp is $21 to add to the salad. You get three shrimp. So each one of those shrimp is $7. They are cold shrimp, so it's not even like they had to cook them fresh for me. I also had the passion fruit daiquiri which was $17 I think. It tasted very average quality. I thought maybe it would have some kind of amazing flavor profile at that price, but it tasted like a drink from any bar. The only thing sort of special about it was they put a dehydrated orange slice on top of it. I agree with the reviewer I read who said to walk through the restaurant and take some pictures and then go eat elsewhere. I think that would be excellent advice. We were seated and waiting for our food still after people who hadn't even arrived in the restaurant already had received their food. I also ordered a side of street corn which I never received. So for a small serving of guacamole for a starter, a Moscow mule, a daiquiri, a small salad with shrimp, and average quality burger, and cheese fries, our bill was over $100 and after 20% tip it was over $120. I have spent that much on meals before. I don't mind spending that much on a special meal. But it bothers me to spend that much on a meal if it feels like the value is just not there at all. If the meal had been about $50 I think I still would have felt like it was a little overpriced. It was about on par with going to Applebee's. I understand touristy places up charging for the experience. But I just feel like the prices are on warranted considering the lack of any special quality to the food and what tiny portions...
Read moreI wish it were possible to give a negative amount of stars. This was some of the worst food I've ever eaten. I have always given somewhat absurd tips if the service is great. I understand if the food is not great it's not the server's fault. However, as a server you need to make sure your tables at least have drinks. It's that simple. Our server took our orders, and we didn't see him until he brought our checks. A young man brought what we thought was our food out, and coincidentally my wife ordered the same thing as the lady sitting at the table next to us. When I realized we had someone else's food I said something, and the guy that brought us the food pulled it off our table, and put it on the table next to us like nothing happened!!!! The lady's face was priceless. She told the waiter, "I need a new meal, I just watched that lady eat some of my food!!!" He said ok, went to the kitchen, and came back in less than two minutes with a "new" meal for her. When we actually got our food it was cold, and one of the most bland things I've ever eaten. During our 45 minute stay I had two glasses of tea; the original one that our waiter brought the first time, and a refill that I had to ask another waiter for. I sat with an empty glass almost the entire time we were there. I hope you're still with me because here's the best part. I'm on vacation in Branson for the weekend, and now I'm sitting in a cabin TRYING to enjoy my Saturday night with my wife, but I can't because I've been on the phone with US Bank's fraud department for 45 minutes. I left a tip of ZERO dollars, and took a picture of the receipt with my phone. When we got back to our cabin I checked my bank account, and our waiter was kind enough to change my $0.00 tip to a $10.00 tip. Not only will I never go back to Arnie's Barn, but I'm going to take ~30 minutes a day, every day, for however long I'm pissed off about this, and let as many people as possible know about this via twitter, instagram, youtube, I don't care. I work 50-60 hours a week, and take 16 hours a semester of mechanical engineering classes. I'm so busy sometimes I feel like I'm dying of a heart attack. I very rarely take a vacation, and I work very hard for every penny that I have, like most people do. To know that someone at this establishment would try to steal from me enrages me. I'm so mad I can't even see straight, simply because if I hadn't checked my bank account when I got home I probably would've forgotten about it, and the guy that did it would've gotten away with it. It makes me wonder how often something like this happens. Thank God I have a picture...
