Waffle House — Restaurant in Missouri

The only reason I'm giving a 3 star rating is because service was exceptional considering our server was getting zero help from the 3 people behind the counter. One guy was cooking nonstop on the grill which was weird as there were only 8 people dining in the place and we all had food already. There was a woman burning waffles and complaining when she screwed up an order (mine), and an older guy wandering around behind the counter doing nothing. We walked in just as a bunch of people were leaving. Subsequently, most of the tables hadn't been cleaned. The server was running food and then took our order. Meanwhile, the old guy behind the counter was telling at the server because he wanted the dishwasher emptied and reloaded. He kept griping at the server who was working non stop running food and refilling coffee while trying to buss tables in between. Whenever someone would come in, the old guy would tell them to sit in chairs by the door until the tables were cleared. Did he help the server. Nope! He just kept griping. Meanwhile the server was muttering under his breath about the lack of help he was getting and you know, I can't say that I blame him. At one point, things got a bit heated when the old guy griped again about the dishwasher and cleaning tables and the server said somethimg to the effect of "why don't you help me instead of b!tching admit it?" I thought I was going to see first hand that the stories about Waffle Houses was true! My son and I got out of there quick bit only after I tipped our server 50%. That man did c not deserve to be treated that way! The place was clean. My over easy eggs looked like they got mugged and were bleeding out on my plate. The sausage patties were so thin and overcooked that they crumbled like a cookie. My waffle was burned to a crisp and I got toast instead of a biscuit. The hash browns were good though and they are why I rated the food 2 stars. I think I'll stick to Dennys or IHOP for late...

Met a friend there for dinner, we ordered the same thing one with hash browns one with not. Chilli with cheese, jalapenos and raw onion. The silerware was Dirty the table was sticky I didn't mind that because I know that things happen but when we got our food it was cold the onions were grilled and there was a cold piece of cheese on top of the chili. I was unaware they didn't have shredded cheese. He also brought me hash browns and when I told him that I didn't order hash browns he looked at me and said I thought you said you wanted the same thing as her and I repeated I wanted the same chili no hash browns anyway he said go ahead and keep it I won't charge you for it so I asked if he would heat it up and he snatched both bowls and said I'll fix it God forbid I asked him for a clean spoon and it just seemed like every time he came over to the table he had a really mean scowl on his face. He had horrible service I heard him talking to the Cook and another customer about me and my friend so whenever I checked out I told him that his face says it all and and I didn't mean to piss him off anytime I asked him to do something I shouldn't have to ask my waiter for clean silverware and I shouldn't have to ask my waiter for a refill I shouldn't have to ask him to remove something that I did not order but I did not tip him and I also told him that I generally tip 25 to 30% whenever it's under $20 and he just missed out on an $8 tip he tried to laugh it off and when I said who's the manager he pointed back at the guy that was cooking and said he's the manager and I said oh the guy that you were complaining about us too? So I just paid my bill and walked out. If I ever decide to go to that Waffle House again I'll order water and I'll order a lemon and I'll pay for the damn lemon but I won't...

Went in walked to counter, waitress acted like I wasn't even there. Was told they were all full. Sat down to give her time, 20 minutes later I'm still talking to a nice gentleman. Walked to counter. Roughly 5 minutes went by with her walking past not acknowledging my presence. Finally got to order. A couple got up to leave so I asked if I could just eat there...with an attitude, and told normally they don't let people do that. But she let me by finding a seat in the corner where nobody previously sat the whole time I was there. I asked for a spoon and she told the cook to give me a plastic one. No problem other than her tone and attitude. Now keep in mind, when I was told I could sit she said she would have to clean a table. Another 5 minutes went by with her walking around. The cook (who was extremely nice and obviously hadn't been there long) stopped and directed me to the table that HE cleaned off. Cook was the best and very courteous. Waitress acted like I was a bother. Especially after she got the gratuity for fixing my to go order. And these are the ones wanting $15.00 + per hour. Thank you to the cook. I will add, they've never been this way before. But never had...
