We gathered together to celebrate a birthday. We hadn’t been to the Depot in a long while and were looking forward to a great meal. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive. The back room is always a great place to sit to see the trains and enjoy food and drinks. HOWEVER NOT THIS NIGHT! I ordered the walleye, as did another guest. I now understand the comment about fish being too “fishy”. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out what sort of concrete mix the fish was dipped in to before being pan fried? It was clearly not pan fried. It had to have gone in with the fries, onion rings and any other fried food they serve. The fish had black specs covering the entire fish. Once you blasted through the concrete coating, you could find mushy watery flavorless something. It was very fishy and not at all edible. Many varieties of burgers were ordered. One was raw, the others were cooked to last through the century. The patty melt was served with burnt toast, completely inedible. The no gravy on the potatoes came with a gallon of gravy and looked and tasted like bathtub food served at mealtime in some convalescent home. Now to the most expensive item on the menu. The 2 ribeye steaks. These were cooked for so long that they curled up and somehow turned up at the edges. Awful is a kind word used to describe these overpriced pieces of meat. We have no problem paying for good food. None of the food was good. None of the appetizers were good. Perhaps when bringing out 6 plus appetizers to a table, make sure the ketchup is full and not empty. We understand it’s busy but, at 4:45 pm they should be full and ready for the dinner hour. A member of our party sent an email to let the owner know how disappointing this visit was. There was ZERO REPLY. It wasn’t sent to receive a discount or get something for free. Just sent as an FYI to let someone know. We spent around $350, someone should have...
Read moreI was very disappointed for our first meal at The Depot. My family had gone out for my father in laws bday. The food was extremely overpriced, country fried chicken was 16.99. Any side condiments other than ketchup were $.50 extra. The server was quick and accommodating but rude. Our family was charged a 20% gratuity for each separate check, which we were not told about until after we asked for our checks and had finished our meals. The server asked it the kids wanted fries or chips with their meal without mentioning that fried were $2 extra! Unfortunately it did say that in fine print on the menu. We were not told about the charge for condiments, fries, or the 20% gratuity charge until after we had finished eating. It was a very dishonest establishment and the food was well below average and soaked in grease. We will definitely never be visiting this restaurant/bar again and I hope this deters anyone else from having to deal with such a poor experience...
Read moreThe server, bartender, and host were phenomenal. Super upbeat! The atmosphere is cozy with a lot of local flair.
I was passing through on a road trip and decided to try this spot and the reviews looked great.
The problem is the food. I don't mind paying for great food, but this didn't come close to the price demanded.
Had two ribeyes. They were cooked well, but I'lf you have any issues with blood pressure stay away, there is enough salt to have a war between ancient kingdoms over the spice rights. This was due to the fact that the cuts of meat were subpar, and about 1/2 of one of the steaks was pure fat.
The mashed potatoes had to have been sourced from an instant packet found in a prison pantry. But don't worry they were doused in gravy saltier than your ex spouse. It's bad when a side salad is the highlight of your meal.
With two entrees water to drink, and tip the meal was 100$! I've spent more but this was astronomical for something Ruby Tuesday...
