So, we were out and about here in Mobile, and we decided we wanted burgers. After a Google search, one of the top results was Butch Cassidy's Café. We thought, "How about this place?" My girlfriend, who's been to most of the restaurants in town, had never been there, so we decided to give it a shot.
Boy, was it wonderful! First, the lady on the phone who took our order was very kind. She explained that it would be about a 25-minute wait, which was fine since we were a good 17 to 20 minutes away. We decided on an interesting order—I got the Butch Cassidy Burger and the Prairie Burger, plus their pollo nachos (I mean, their chicken nachos), fries, and, to finish it off, banana pudding! The lady on the phone offered it, which was a nice touch, and we said, “Sure! We'd love some banana pudding.”
Let me tell you, the drive, the ride, the food, the wait—the whole experience was totally worth it! While they don't have the best parking in the world, it's not terrible. It’s just a little tight, likely because it's also a bar. But it was fine. While we waited, they offered my girlfriend a nice complimentary Dr Pepper, which was a great gesture. When the food took a few minutes longer than expected, they even gave her the Dr Pepper to go—super thoughtful!
Once we got home, we devoured our food—well, as much as we could because the burger was massive! The other burger was a decent size, and the nachos were plentiful, especially with the chicken and all the toppings. Everything tasted amazing. It came with a few sauces, plus ketchup, and the presentation was nice. It was well-packaged, too.
Overall, 5 out of 5! And, honestly, I think we tipped generously. Even with the tip, I don't think it cost more than $45—it might’ve been even less. That’s an incredible price for all that food! Half of that would have cost $50 at Five Guys and wouldn’t have been...
Read moreLord have mercy were we in for a nice surprise! We like to visit different cities and restaurants that are not chains. We have been to Mobile several times and found the food okay nothing to brag about. So when my husband informs me that we will be dining for breakfast/lunch at Butch Cassidy’s my thrill dropped and so did my expectations. The name was cheesy in my expert (not) opinion and when we arrived there were several motorcycles parked in front. I told my husband it was a biker bar and maybe we should turn around and go elsewhere. I’m glad he didn’t agree with me. There were bikers but they rode Harleys for the older folks and a bar. People turned to see us but not in an intimidating way. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered the crab eggs Benedict. I’ve had my share of crab eggs Benedict so it felt like a safe item to order. I’m not sure I can use the correct words to describe what I enjoyed that morning. I was not expecting gourmet tasting food but that’s what I got. I felt sorry for my husband and his burger so I offered him a few tastes of my crab Benedict which he also thought were the tastiest morsels he’s ever had! Don’t get me wrong his burger was good but couldn’t compare with my dish. Our server was a young gal and seemed to be new at food serving. I was a server back in the day so I expect good service. She was sweet though and was trying her best. As we were leaving Butch Cassidy’s we crossed paths with a man I assumed was the owner. He was! We shared our dining experience with him and told him we would be back! He shared with us that he was recently a contestant for a WORLD cooking competition and came in THIRD! Wow! Third place in a world competition? You will not be disappointed at Butch...
Read moreThere are a lot of great options available to those that consider themselves to be true burger aficionados in the local area but the two that are considered to the best of the best are Butch Cassidy’s and Callaghan’s. I’ve lived in the local area for about 18 months now and due to the fact that it’s a favorite of my coworkers, I’ve been to and enjoyed Callaghan’s several times but have been wanting to give Butch Cassidy’s a try. Well, my wife and I were looking for someplace new (to us) to try and she suggested Butch Cassidy’s so the time had finally arrived. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were seated without issue. After quickly scanning the menu, I ordered the Butch Burger with fries and my wife ordered the Steak Sandwich with onion rings. Our order’s arrived in a timely manner and were excellent. Our waitress was attentive without overdoing it and the restaurant/pub was clean and seemingly well maintained. For those that care to know, the Butch Burger is simple and unpretentious yet it’s THE best burger I’ve had in the area. The patty was cooked perfectly and the burger built with obvious quality ingredients, no fuss, no muss. If you’re in the mood for a fancy burger, and ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, this isn’t it but if your tastebuds are steering you towards the best classic style burger in the Mobile area, Butch Cassidy’s needs to be at the top...
