Mellow Mushroom in Mobile, AL, will forever hold a special place in our hearts. My husband and I have been longtime fans of Mellow Mushroom, visiting several locations over the years. While we’ve loved every experience, this one was truly unforgettable.

On a whim, we decided to surprise our kiddos with a little road trip from New Orleans to Mobile for a family lunch at Mellow Mushroom. We knew our all-time favorite pizza, the Red Skin Potato Pie, was no longer on the menu, but we still couldn’t resist a visit. Just before we left, a thought crossed my mind—what if I called and just asked if they could make it for us? It was a long shot, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.

When I called, I felt a little silly even bringing it up, but the kindness I was met with made all the difference. The staff was so warm and accommodating, and then I was transferred to Brittany, the manager. She didn’t just take my request—she went above and beyond, calling the owner directly to see if they could make it happen. When she told me they would be making our favorite pizza, I may or may not have shed a few happy tears telling my husband.

When the big day arrived and we walked through the doors, we were greeted with smiles and a whispered, “They’re here!” It was such a small moment, but it made us feel so incredibly welcomed. And then the pizza—our long-lost favorite—arrived at our table. It was even better than we remembered.

Mellow Mushroom Mobile, thank you. Thank you for your kindness, your hospitality, and for making what was already a special place to us feel like family. You turned a simple meal into a core memory for our family, and we will never forget it.

Brought my family here for lunch. There were only three other tables seated. We ordered some sandwiches and it took 45 minutes from ordering to get the food. I had to order a different sandwich from what I wanted because they didn't have any avocado. When the food finally arrived it was over cooked and dry. The portions were sad for $10. Maybe a cup of ingredients total. And my second choice sandwich didn't have all the ingredients after arriving. How do you run out of pickles. Don't you order those by the bucket.

While waiting for our food the cooks were not cooking. They were just joking around with the girl that hands out menus. Only after a pile of tickets hit the kitchen did the cook get started. I saw him panic when he realized he was in the weeds. Only the veteran staff was working. ALL of the young people were just standing around talking and joking.

I think our waitresses name was Gretchen. She made no effort to take care of us or even apologize for the long wait. We were about to leave when she said they were plating our food. We waited another ten minutes before it came. I've been coming here since they built the building and it was my favorite place for pizza. There are so many other great pizza shops in Mobile that I will not be returning or giving a recommendation to others. This place has really gone downhill. The worst part was I ended up having to go to McDonald's immediately after leaving to feed my family. I can't remember the last time I didn't leave a tip in a restaurant, but this one won't...

My daughter and I were looking for a place to eat where doggies were welcome. We were an hour and a half from home and needed some food on our tummies. We don't leave our puppy anywhere;Especially not in the car. So I found this place! And so glad we went there. They have a nice sitting area outside- it's covered, has ceiling fans, and cushions on the chairs. Our puppy was able to chill and interact with people- everyone who saw her talked about how cute she is (She's our little rescue pup/ a Corman Shepherd). Our waitress was awesome! She brought our pup a bowl of water immediately. We ordered a medium cheese pizza with pineapple. It was huge! We had to take most of it home. (Yay! We got to enjoy it a second time.) This was the best pizza I've ever eaten. (If it had just been me, I would have added more toppings.) We also ordered the pretzel bites which were a-mazing! Though, I had to order regular cheese instead of the spicy that comes with it, Because my daughter is 4- no spicy for her. (We ended up having to bring alot of those home, too. They are very generous with their servings.) Also, my little girl got the strawberry lime lemonade. Now I have to figure out how to make it for her. Because- you know- "it's soooo nummy". The service was excellent, and totally exceeded my expectations. Next time we're in the area, we will certainly stop here again. Thank you for a pleasurable experience.
