I've travelled far and wide, from Michelin starred restaurants to legendary local haunts, and yet nowhere on earth have I had a dining experience as phenomenal as I've had at Bauhaus.
The food is as fresh as it is original, often brought in shop the same day from the local farmer's market or a shoreline if looking for seafood, with everything made right for you behind the bar counter in the world's most magical little oven; how they make food ranging from pastrami banh mi sandwiches to honey covered garlic brie pastries is beyond me, but everything - everything - is exceptional.
The beer and wine selection is robust with something for everyone, including house made red and white sangrias that feature fresh fruit in the glass. Hard to beat.
But, what takes Bauhaus from merely being an excellent place to grab a bite to eat to being truly special are the people that infuse the space with love. Chef Tye and the hostess, Meara, make you feel as welcomed as if you were their closest friends and take care of you equally as well. Laughter and storytelling between patrons and them is a common occurrence and you just can't help but leave with a great big smile on your face, and at the heart of it all, isn't that what it's all about? This place is not to be...
Read moreBefore I looked online I had no idea Bauhaus was even there. Come to find out the same owners of this place own Bauer's 66 Downtown on 9th street which I haven’t been to yet either but I’ve heard of.
This place is really cool. It’s really small but had a nice vibe. Everyone there was really cool they greeted me like they knew me when I got there and they made great suggestions. I’m on my vegan journey right now but my friend is not. I found this place looking up vegan restaurants that have regular food too and they have some decent vegan options.
The chef cooks everything right there behind the bar. I don’t really drink but they have a good beer selection and a decent wine selection. I tried the Mushroom Al ajillo, Roasted Asparagus, the Asparagus pastry and I had an off menu dish that was rice, vegetables and vegan sausage that I can’t remember the name of but was really good. My friend had the Beef Wellington and she liked it.
I will definitely be going back here because the vibe is real chill. Thank you for a...
Read moreWe recently moved near downtown Modesto. Each week we walk to two or three restaurants to try out for lunch or dinner (breakfasts will come soon). The Bauhaus just made it to the top of our list. The place is small, but the outdoor patio doubles the space. The food is served tapas style. We tried the pork tenderloin, beer sausage, prosciutto pastry, and brie with walnuts and blackberries pastry. All were great. The tenderloin was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We look forward to having those dishes again and trying more. Our favorite beer of the night was an orange ale. We returned here last night (8/5) for dinner and again ate on the patio. I added a picture of the pork tenderloin on puffed pastry . We had the brie pastry for dessert again, but we ate it all before I remembered to snap a photo. Oh, well...The third time here, 12/21/17 we brought two of our sons. The outdoor heater was out of propane so we sat at the bar. Ty could here orders from around the room. Everything was tasty. ...
