During my regrettable visit to Mocha Magic in Modesto over the holidays, the experience was far from the town's supposedly friendly reputation. My sister and I, in an attempt to salvage our outing, ordered an iced tea and a mocha iced mocha. Despite the beverages managing to scrape together a meager seven out of ten, the true tragedy unfolded in the realm of customer service, earning an unequivocal zero.
The lady positioned behind the counter seemed to have mastered the art of inhospitality. Upon our entrance, she was deeply engrossed in serving another fortunate soul, seemingly oblivious to the notion of multitasking or basic acknowledgment of new customers. After an uncomfortably prolonged wait, she finally spared us a glance, only to showcase a distinct lack of friendliness that left us questioning our choice of venue.
Attempting to shake off the initial discomfort, we approached the counter, hoping for a hint of courtesy. Alas, the encounter only exacerbated our disappointment. Instead of a warm greeting or any semblance of politeness, she abruptly inquired if we were ready, as if inconvenienced by our very presence.

Read moreCame in on Valentine's Day so what I ended up purchasing might not be available year-round - FYI.
Such a cute bakery! I probably said "Awww, that's cute!" multiple times to myself :) As soon as you walk in - they have baked goods on the shelves and lining the order counter. They have super adorbs decorations all over, it helped to keep me occupied while waiting in line.
Friendly staff made it easy to ask questions when ordering - I asked what Valentine's drink was the most popular. They said that the Cupid's Arrow Latte was a hit so of course, I went with that as my drink of the day. It was super yums!
I only went in for a drink but when looking at their heart cakes, I couldn't help myself - they were sooooo cute & how can I resist a mini heart shaped cake? So I nabbed one to share with my husband (& by share, I mean he takes a bite and I eat the rest, lol) -- the cake was scrumptious.
They do custom cakes - I took a picture of the flavor/filling options.
After reading the other reviews, it looks like I need to try out their non-sweet treats so I'll definitely be back to give that a try & maybe pick up another mini...
Read moreI come here for a coffee every single morning. I have tried almost every type of coffee or drink on the menu and not a single one is a disappointment. Then, you add in the fact that all of their breakfast sandwiches and wraps are not only affordable, but delicious, and you have an amazing cafe with a wonderful staff.
But wait, what about the pastries and baked goods, you ask? AMAZING. I have to truly fight myself to not get a pastry for every breakfast/lunch. I didnt even know what a confetti cookie was before having my mind blown here.
Seriously, this place is a gem and Maria is absolutely...
