Possibly the worst dining experience ever. One factor after another. Starting off they had us wait over 20 minutes at 11:00 pm. So I figure hey its "tax" season on a weekend they must be crazy busy...so finally they bring us around to seat us just to see the whole rear of the dining room was empty and really only a few tables were full...so after waiting so long we were immediately ready to order so we place our drink order first then food. The server is fairly quick to bring back drinks but cant remember who had what. After receiving our drinks we requested straws which we never saw another 20 minutes waiting for our food. Now almost an hour at the resturaunt we barely got drinks with no straws....as we sat and began become impatient and frustration sat in the server bends the corner with plates!!! Yes our food finally! Ummm....NO it was actually for the table behind us. Now as our table grew more restless my exhausted 6 year falling asleep on his mom we were considering leaving which we have never done before. The only thing stopping us was losing all the time vested and not having to resort to going to Wendy's next door..Eventually the food starts to come out right about the same time the table behinds us begins to complain about their food. As our server clumsily begins to mix up our orders handing every one the wrong item we redistribute to the appropriate place and instantly begin to see problems. The hashbrowns I ordered crispy well done were barely cooked at best and still cold on the inside. My daughter's over easy eggs were over cooked and her boyfriend and my wife were still waiting for their food...which leads us to the last "Straw" overall so mind you at this point we still have not received straws and my wifes "Club" sandwhich, the easier of all orders was just arriving now. when I use the word "Club" in parentheses is because what was placed before her was far from a club sandwhich. This was the saddest sloppy single layered Turkey sandwhich ever, meat hanging off the sides wilted lettuce pale tomato just sad. As my wife examines the server askes is something wrong? My wife says yes this doesn't look like a club the server explains "Ohhh its just the way he cut it" this my friends was the line for me I washed down the cold raw hashbrowns with ice tea (no straw) I had enough, stood up told my family lets go the waitresses seemed puzzled I simply explained this was the worst service we have ever had and we were taking our business elsewhere. This has seriously made us weary of Denny's resturaunts as whole but this location...
ย ย ย Read moreSplit the Denver omelet with Biscuits and Gravy and a side of pancakes. Omelet was lite and fluffy. No burns or crispy outer edges. I forgot that Denny's uses a PRE packed onion and bell peppers. IF I had remembered I would NOT have ordered the Denver. This shortcut turns the flavor of the onions and BP into a nasty tasting mush. Denny, you can do better. The Hash browns were crispy brown and soft in the middle. PERFECT. The eggs had a Funky after taste to them. Speaking with the chef he said the only additive was margarine. I did NOT care for it. Maybe try something different and not Pam. Pancakes were spot on and with the right amount of whipped butter. The Biscuits and Gravy were like Granny used to make. Not to chalky and the right amount of sausage in them. It would have been nice if they were hotter as they were closer to room temperature. Minimal customers dining at 2 a.m. Table next to us seemed to have just left the bar. A little loud and crescendo with one of them punching the table and then got quiet as if pouting. Interior was clean and no odors except for one of the homeless that was hanging around near the register. The climate was nice as it was extremely cold on this night.
Our server, Kelsie greeted us with a smile and was very attentive for this hour of the morning. Some staff don't want to be there and it shows with their service. Not here!! Coffee cup stayed full and we didn't have to ask for anything. She left us alone when she needed to. Her communication with us was a 10. She let us know she was going on a break but where we could find her if needed. Management, in this day and age of less than standard employees are all that's left in the hiring pool, you have a "keeper" here. As a management OR a store owner I would do what is need to retain her. We thought her attitude, attentiveness and quality of service was outstanding and so much better than we have seen in the past. This type of employee is deserving of better compensation than your...
ย ย ย Read more๐ EVER MET A SHINING STAR? ๐ Allow me to introduce you to ๐ธ AMANDA ๐ธ
I had several appointments, meetings and errands to run today. Now, if you know me, you know that if I don't graze regularly I can become incorrigible ๐คซand today I failed to eat anything other than a ๐ and it was pushing 5pm. We tried one restaurant but sadly we were abandoned for far too long by chatty staff so we bounced. Before starvation took over we decided to head toward the next appointment and ducked into the first place we saw.
This is where we met Amanda... Hangry, whiney and melting away I marched into the Denny's and shamelessly announced something to the nature of "I'm withering away please feed me".
Amanda, laughing and without missing a beat played along and responded by quickly seating us and saying "so dramatic". ๐๐๐๐๐ She was on to me immediately.
Our entire visit was a hysterical bantering match. She was the only server on staff yet she had all of the guests covered with fast, organized and efficient service... always smiling always engaging and appropriately funny.
She made certain to praise her team mate Jose, who understandably ignored me all together YET he speedily made a wicked delicious burger and ...it was SO GOOOOOD ๐ {he did not really ignore me. ....he was just busy and I'm dramatic...we โฅ๏ธ Jose}
To put it mildly..... Where one team of servers in a pretty bougie establishment ignored our table {we were the only two in the dining room and ready to order the entire menu ๐๐} .... Another single server at the Denny's up the street delivered immediate OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE ANNNNNNDDDD...she was darling! She quite honestly saved me from fainting and whining and crying.
So there you have it. Amanda the shining star is a life saver with a wingman named Jose .... Together they made our day.
Denny's on McHenry (near Granger) go there. Order the patty melt and enjoy the uplifting vibe. Say hi from...
