Grand Buffet — Restaurant in Modesto

The service was okay for most part. They willing to refill your drinks but each one is full price no free refills even kid drinks. My family and I came in a large group and was looking forward to the kid price $7.99 before 6pm. This means at check 6:01pm its $9.99 this is for kids over 5yrs. Now when our drink order was taken it just pass 5:30pm. As far as I read online and in Buffet $7.99 for kids over 5. Yes its just $2.00 difference but with 5 kids eating that adds up to almost kid price from 6-10pm. Point I am making is the kid price changing due to time makes me very unhappy with the over all visit. Also again with the drinks H2O and all the free refills that come with is all that has free refills. Now as far as food, it was not bad tasting at all. Wish they had more raw fish to choose from.$14.99 per adult all you can eat looked like a deal to me. Would I eat here again yes because no sooner after dinner in the car on the way home 30 min drive or so the bathroom was calling for me and the adults whom eat here, just to make sure if it was casued by eating...

Have been here several times. The food has been good each time and they're good about restocking items when they run low. There is a good selection of dishes from sushi to vegetable dishes as well as plentiful meat and seafood dishes. They also have pepperoni pizza in the buffet which is a big help for the parents whose children don't want chinese food. They offer fresh fruit, jello, ice cream, and varied pastries for dessert.

We went to another buffet place with family not very far from here and, while they had cute little sushi boats floating around a sushi bar, they didn't have as good of a selection of other foods and was more expensive so we'll be sticking with this one when we want chinese buffet.

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the bathrooms. They are often out of paper towels and there is a bit of a smell that seems to possibly be from air coming back up the toilet pipes maybe. I think they need to get a plumber in there to fix something.

Tldr: dope choice if you want an asian cuisine all-you-can-eat place that seems to be run by locals. Pros: I was pleasantly surprised with the selection that was offered here. Everyone here was pleasant and polite and everything was clean and attended to. The food seemed to be refreshed at an acceptable rate and was well made. Decent amount of beverage options. Cons: the sushi rice was a little dry but if you dip it in soy sauce then you won't really notice this. The decor is a bit dated and feels old. Some of the vending machines in the front were out of order. The payment and pricing menu was crudely done and made the restaurant feel kinda cheap and unkempt. Only three flavors of ice cream even though they have like eight posted. Lol. All-in-all, I was happy to spend money here and I hope they improve...
