Really disappointing experience. I had never been here before and was visiting family who lives in the area. I passed by it after Starbucks and grew curious about it. My brother's fiance warned me not to try it when I asked her about it but I didn't listen. I should've. I ordered a chicken enchilada with green sauce and a side of refried beans and a chicken taco and glass bottled cola to go. This did seem like the kind of restaurant you should just sit in for, as it did have nice dim lighting and a good ambience to it. But I wasn't in the mood for eating out and just wanted to eat in my car with my daughter as we were on our way to somewhere else. The girl at the front was friendly and polite so two stars . But I asked TWICE if there was a fork and she said both times yes without even checking. There wasn't! I had to literally walk to the Starbucks after parking by America's best to get a plastic fork. When they should have provided one . Then the refried beans came in a Styrofoam container. It was a big huge thing of refried beans. Idk who needs that many freaking beans but never in my life have I ever ordered to go food from a Mexican restaurant with that much beans and also who puts refried beans in a Styrofoam container that can easily leak and open? Every other place I've gotten Mexican takeout from gives it to you in a sealed plastic round container with a matching lid and sometimes even seran wrap on top. Well the Styrofoam container leaked out when I opened it as they gave me way way too much beans in the first place. It got all over my car ( see attached photos) now I have a mess to clean. I was hoping my chicken enchilada would be good well tha chicken was dry and way overcooked and tasteless. The green sauce was mediocre and lacked spice. The salsa on the side was pretty bland too . Maybe it's better eating inside idk but I'm not from here and I can get way better Mexican takeout in Solano county where I live. Long story short no fork provided with takeout despite my asking twice , overcooked chicken in the enchilada, mediocre sauce, and horrible messy overfilled container of beans that left a mess and permanent stains on my car front passenger seat that I'll now have to scrub. Thanks 😡 So I paid 23 dollars for no fork, messy beans that left a permanent mess in my car, and flavorless salsa and ovecooked dry chicken in the enchilada. If you like spending 20 plus dollars for this type of experience, then this is your place. Have at it. Worse Mexican take out ever. I'll never go here again and should've listened to others saying how bad it was . Don't know how they've been in...
Read moreThis place is without any question the single best Mexican food restaurant in Modesto. The food is phenomenal, the customer service just as good, and the the family-orientedness of this company is stellar. Called recently for a takeout order and was pleasantly greeted on the phone by the manager (Brian) who helped us make an otherwise "special" veggie burrito with some other orders as well. Food was absolutely delicious, everything tastes homemade or fresh, and all of the staff look like they enjoy being there... a pleasant surprise in this town. Javier is a wonderful businessman and family-oriented owner who takes pride in his business, and it shines in this place in the best kind of way. The stellar management, time/wait for food, quality of the dish, and customer service, and location makes this place our favorite Mexican restaurant in the 209. We love this place and will keep coming back and will be happy to...
Read moreJavi's is this place that my friends always rave about how great they are, especially the service and drinks. Unfortunately I've had nothing but bad experiences here and I just don't get it. I usually go about once a year when I feel like its worth another shot. Each time I've gone I have had to find a waiter to help us after we've been sitting for 15 minutes and I hesitate asking for anything because it feels like we were bothering them. I feel like if I had sat in the bar area the experience would of been much better, but my family can't sit in the bar area.
Between the unwelcome vibe and the overpriced plates I really don't get why I keep trying Javi's. It's a shame they're within walking distance I would like for my family to accompany our friends who eat at Javi's weekly but the experiences I've had are so off-putting. I hope the next time I go...
