I wouldn’t know how the food tasted because we never had a server come to our table. I’m very fair with my reviews and I’m happy to share good news about great places to eat. I want to see these people prosper. We arrived at 4:50PM for dinner, we were excited to try out this new restaurant. We checked in at the Bar by the cash register and seated ourselves per the staff. We waited for 20 minutes, I set our menus down almost to the point where they were falling off the table as I watched a server walk past us serving a table behind us. I thought our server would be coming over to take our order, finally. Well, I was wrong we waited 5 more minutes, so we got up to leave. That’s when they asked, can I help you? Once I’m leaving I don’t go back. I returned our menus and we went to Damien’s. We were seated and served in 3 minutes had our items within 15 minutes. One other detail, the music was annoyingly loud. They have a beautiful stage outfitted with about 5 thousands watts worth of speakers. I like my music loud but not 3 steps below Concert level when I’m eating or trying to hold a conversation. Try at your own risk. I will not...
Read moreI've been wanting to come here for a while after passing it so many times. Came in around 1-2 pm kinda dead, looked more like a venue with a restaurant. We were approached and then Said we could sit at any table so I walked towards the booth seated tables and then they stop us because they weren't clean so we chose a regular table with chairs. No biggie. The chips themselves were decent but the salsa was mostly water. Very watered down salsa. Looking over the menue they had quite a large selection. I went with a wet burrito. The portion size on that was great but the the burrito was lacking flavor. I specifically ordered pastor but there must have been less than 2 Oz of meat in the burrito. Very little meat, more just rice. While we were eating I noticed one of the waitresses sweeping and I heard something large being swept and I looked closely and it was a syringe (no needle) being brushed around. Pretty odd. Hopefully it was part of some alcoholic drink where it's a shot in the syringe. Would not recommend...
Read moreIt was my first time dining at Mariscos La Ceiba in Modesto. The restaurant is quite spacious, suitable for bands and other events. I ordered the chile relleno, and my wife had the shrimp fajitas; each dish was $18.99. That price seemed reasonable for the fajitas, but a bit high for the relleno, as it only included one. Many other restaurants offer two for that price. The rice looked appealing but lacked flavor and could have benefited from more broth. The beans and chile relleno were tasty. The fajitas were good, although I've had better elsewhere in Modesto. Our server wasn't particularly attentive or friendly, and we had to repeatedly request refills. I doubt we'll return soon. I had hoped for a more...
