Pura Vida Shaved Ice and Espresso Bar — Restaurant in Modesto

Update: I was contacted today by the owner Jill. I was met with the defense of her employee and she "told me what had happened" even though when I tried to explain what happened from my end, she let me know that she "wasn't there" and that is "my perception". I was also made to know that only paying customers are allowed one water each and that they have "homeless" coming to get water and she has to pay for cups and "if I could understand that"? Now we look homeless? Then she also explained that they "assumed we were all the same". Not sure what that implies. That she said she understands being a Mother but that she "always made sure to have water for her own kids in the car". There was 6 of us in our party, we paid separately and even made multiple purchases during that visit. Not until after my friend bought kettle corn did her children ask for water to which they were told no. The employee Sarah said to Jill "we had gotten 5 cups and they were busy and we were in and out". Even if that was true being 6 of us we were at least entitled to 1 more cup. We only asked for 2 and made sure to wait for no cars in their drive thru line before asking for water. Jill made it very clear the kids that work there aren't rude as she trains them herself. I had to reiterate that I am there multiple times a week and this is the first issue I've had otherwise she would have heard from me before. She apologized finally and asked me "what I wanted"? A gift card, shaved ice? Free product?"... I said nothing. The way my friend's children were treated and myself tonight over the phone I will not be back. You don't treat people that way especially when they've been loyal.

I loved coming here but depending on whose shift it is your service will suffer. I've had 2 experiences now that I'm very upset about. The most recent one being that my friend and I brought our little ones to play and talk and they're running around outside playing and we keep buying more and more having a great time. I have my daughter get two cups of water for my toddler and myself. But she was meant with a bit of attitude, now my friend sent her daughter in after buying kettle corn for water. She was told no. I said well maybe wait after their drive thru got smaller. She goes in and she was told no water for free. Shocked I went in and asked and Sarah told us that they already gave us 2 cups and she will have to charge us a dollar. Mind you there was 6 of us and we all bought multiple items over the period of 2 hours and have only gotten to 2 cups of ice water. I asked her how the owner Jill would feel about this and said Jill doesn't let them give out free water. I contacted Jill and haven't heard anything. I'm so sad I loved going here but I don't feel welcome anymore and my heart is broken. I hope one day we are able to return. We went at least 2...

This place has THE WORST customer service. First we go inside to order, the girl at the register had an awful attitude, didn't say hi, and acted like we were an inconvenience. But ehatever, we got our order in (3 small shaved ices). We sit in the dining area which was a mess- cram packed of empty tables and chairs- you'd think our order would be pretty quick as it's shaved ice...not too complicated. We We're waiting for 20 minutes. A group of 5 who came in after us left with their orders. We go up to the counter to ask what's going on and not one of the 4 people behind the counter looked up. Finally, we get the drive through guys attention and learned that our order was never even given to the workers to be made. The girl with the stank attitude who took our order was apparently off work because she immediately left after taking our order. So thanks, girl with RBF- I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT NIGHT OFF WHILE I...

So was out and about and my o'l eagle eyes spotted this place. The staff was friendly and helpful, they have sugar free options, coffee options, smoothie options and if you like energy drinks they have those options as well. There're MULTIPLE Sizings for you to choose from. We had the child size and I think it was pretty big for their smallest size. The treat was lite not heavy, the ice was completely coated in flavour, I chose the Pineapple and Tigers blood from their sugar free options. You can pick up to three flavours as well. Brought back memories of when I was younger and would go to the park with my family and mom would buy us kids a shaved ice cone. This time time I returned the favour. Will go back...
