Weird, uncomfortable, and unpleasant interaction. I intended to order a pep and sausage w/cheese online and somehow ordered a cheese. I understand human error, it could've been me. I also develop websites and get that human error can happen in development too. I'm alluding to a buggy site. Back to my visit, the counter woman attempted to hand me a cheese pizza, and I expressed to her that it may have been ordered in error, but I hadn't payed yet, so I assumed like most places in a first world country, they would offer to remake the pizza. Of course, the counter woman with no ownership in the company apologizes and attempts to get me to walk out with a cheese pizza. As I'm expressing to her that I just want what I intended to order, she walks away to her management.
She comes back, but with I'm assuming to be her manager. She expresses to me again that I have to take the pizza as I ordered it online. I told her I'm not taking the pizza, I just want a sausage and pep pizza. Her manager then takes the cheese pizza, slides it to the backwall, ask me what I wanted and goes to make it. I hadn't payed yet so I wasn't walking out with a pizza I didn't want and also I just really didn't want a cheese pizza from Beggars. I grew up eating Beggars and just wanted fair and reasonable customer service. I believe I got a portion of that cause as I waited the rest of my visit, their employees kept looking and nodding in my direction, and I wasn't even a bit hostile, just firm that I wasn't paying for a cheese pizza and still chose to tip. This Beggars is in Mokena, so I understand their clients don't often resemble my appearance. Thank you for serving me the pizza I wanted, but the experience kind of bummed me....
Read moreHorrible experience. We wanted to get a jump start on a deep dish pizza before dining in the restaurant with children. There were only 4 of us on Father's day around 3:30 pm... not exactly a busy time... Harley in carry out said we had to place it as a carry out order, then notify our server when we got there to switch it to dine in, but she couldn't guarantee a table. We arrived about 10 minutes after placing the order and were seated right away. We ordered 3 soft drinks, 1 water, french fries, and garlic bread for appetizers. When Nicole brought our drinks, we told her about the carry out order and added on two kids' meals. 20 minutes later, Nicole had still NOT checked in, nor brought appetizers which take about 6 minutes to cook. There was a loud group that had already been boxed up before we even sat down that left their two tables and had kids all over the the booths on both sides of us... no management to be seen. They should have stepped in with an unruly group to maintain the comfort of another family just sitting down. No server. No appetizers. No communication. No management. We walked out, and I called from the car. Harley connected me to the manager Steve, who I explained the situation to and let him know to cancel our order... pretty much fell on deaf ears and he said he'd ask Nicole what happened. No apology. We went to Ed N Joe's on Oak Park Avenue and had a wonderful...
Read moreLikely won’t be coming back to the Mokena location any time soon. Don’t get me wrong, Beggar’s has been a family favorite when it comes to pizza as long as I can remember. We routinely order from the Mokena or Oak Forest location every week-2 weeks, and haven’t ever had an issue with the food. As of late though, the service has seemed to really take a turn for the worse at the Mokena Location.
This specific night I placed an order early in hopes of avoiding the usual rush around dinner time(3 hours early for a 5:15 pickup.) When I arrived there were 2-3 people waiting who all quickly received their food and left. People continued to come and go for over 35-40 minutes, until I finally asked the young lady at the counter for an update on the order. I don’t mind waiting if I do not order in advance, but when I am sitting for over 30 minutes and hearing the people at the counter give new orders an estimate of 40-45 minutes, it begins to get irritating. (In my 35-40 minute wait, not once did anyone check on the order until prompted to do so, even after multiple customers coming and going).
Long story short, though Beggar’s has been a family favorite for years, I would rather spend the extra 20-25 minutes driving to a different location or different Pizza place then waiting at the Mokena location that does not seem to care about their...
