Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Mokena

Driving around last Halloween evening (10/31/18) with wife and kid. My daughter was really in the mood for a hot dog, Dairy Queen was right there and so it was perfect. All their lights were on, there was another car in the drive thru ahead of us. I pulled up to the window and a girl came up and said they were closed early for Halloween. Who closes early for Halloween!! If I recall it was a little before 8:00pm. I was kind of shocked and didn't know what to say, so I politely just said ok and drove off. Then I'm thinking why are all their lights on and who would close early for Halloween, the trick or treating hours are long over!! I ended up calling the place about 15 minutes later, the girl answers the phone Dairy Queen, OK - who answers the phone when you're closed!!!??? I work in an office and guess what, we don't answer the phones when we're closed LoL, and I'm sure most other places don't. Very suspicious. I said are you guys open, and she says they're closed early for Halloween. I ended up calling the corporate number and they said they should have been open until 10pm, but they would check with the owner and get back to me, I've never heard anything more from the owner or anyone else about what happened. Perhaps if they DID decide to close down early for the day maybe the best thing to do would be to shut the lights off and put up a sign that says closed. But makes me think their workers just wanted to stop working for the day. Didn't leave a good impression with my family that night. And no...

The Mokena Dairy Queen is the worst ran Dairy Queen in Illinois the management is extremely unqualified and does a poor leadership role. After months of working here I have seen 1st hand how unsafe the conditions are to eat here. No doubt should the health department look into this establishment and I guarantee multiple health violations will be found. Working here I was paid the training salary for 3 months, forced to work by myself in the store my 3rd day on the job and closed majority nights that I worked without proper training. But if this is not bad enough wait til you meet your co-workers, not once did I work with an employee(other than the manger) who wasn’t under the influence or on drugs. Please reconsider before applying for a job and help to resolve these issues this...

This location is filthy and the service is slow. I get its a couple of high school kids with a part time job, and props to them for working, however the bathroom is disgusting. My 4 year old boy (who plays in the dirt, sand, and even mud) even said it was nasty after seeing a bug in there. The walk back there should be a warning sign as there are boxes stacked throughout that narrow hallway-- which is most definitely a fire hazard (might contact the local fire marshall to check it out).

If they neglect basic housekeeping imagine what else they're possibly neglecting. Perhaps the cleaning of the ice cream machines aren't dont as frequently....
