We had friends in from out of town who used to live in Frankfort. They love Rising Sun, so we got dinner for them as a treat. We spent $150 on dinner for 6 people. When we picked up the food and brought it home, we realized that 3 of the 6 dishes were wrong. We ordered a pork dish and got beef instead. We ordered veggie chow mein and got a shrimp dinner – and the person who ordered this has a life-threatening allergy to shrimp and on our order NOTHING had shrimp in it. And I ordered a veggie chow mein with no tomato and no peppers. It came with extra peppers. I called the next day and asked for a refund on the three dishes. The manager told me it was all taken down over the phone wrong. I corrected him with the fact that I put in an online order. He told me it was my fault I didn’t know beef from pork. He couldn’t explain why we got shrimp, and he said it was my fault on the error on the chow mein because I put no tomato and there are no tomatoes in the chow mein. But when asked about putting the extra peppers in it when I asked for none, he told me again it was my fault. I asked for a refund of the three meals. He told me he wanted me to pack up the leftovers and bring them in. I told him that was unreasonable and asked for a credit back to my credit card for the three meals. He said he would give me credit for two meals, again claiming the chow mein was my fault, and he could not credit my card back as that was credit card fraud. He kept yelling at me how he had been in business for 45 years. And he guessed he would believe that I was right about the pork dish, etc. I told him I was not going out of my way to get a credit when it was his fault and he said he would call me back. He has not called me back. My friends loved it all, even with the mistakes – and they were happy. I however was not happy with having ½ of the meals...
Read moreI don't know where to start. We have traveled to so many different places, regions, and even internationally to 27 countries and have frequently our share of Chinese eateries. This is by far the worst Chinese restaurant I've been so unlucky to visit and will never be back. The egg rolls seemed like they were made in a factory and fried. The stuffing were slimy and really gross. My kids and I took one bite and we had to spit it out on the napkin. My dish was mostly bean sprouts and really really bland. There was no taste to it. The fried rice seems like it was prepared in old grease. It has that old grease smell. The egg drop soup taste somewhat like it was made from Cheetos. Above all the female waitress was rather rude. We asked what was sin the dish, she said "you can see in the menu" but the lunch menu does not have any ingredients listed on them. Finally she pointed out to look at the main menu. Even then, after looking at the main menu, it does not match the lunch menu. I asked if the kids wanted to leave, but they were tired and hungry. They said let's give it a shot. .and they were disappointed. One of my kiddos only took 5 bites of his dish and didn't want to finish it. It's so bad we didn't even take the food with us in the take out box. Overall, it's a big disappointment. I'm not sure how this establishment get 4.3 overall stars. There's not an option for zero star. Don't be mislead by other review. You...
Read moreI have always loved their egg rolls as they are made with peanut butter and have a great flavor!!! This last time I visited, I was treated differently than another gentleman of another color. He ordered 4 egg rolls. I ordered 6 egg rolls, crab Rangoon, large shrimp fried rice, and large egg foo young. First the man placed his order. After his order was complete, the cashier walked away and was shouting angrily to his coworkers. I stood their maybe a couple of minutes while the workers walked past me. When someone stopped to acknowledge me, I asked if I could order and he replied he thought I had already placed an order. They were very nice and accommodating to the other gentleman, keeping him updated on his order. Nothing over the top, but good customer service. When his order was done, he asked for extra sweet and sour sauce, they gave it to him and held the door as he left the restaurant. When my order was complete, I also asked for extra sweet and sour sauce. I was told that I would have to pay. I declined and left out feeling some kind of way about the different treatment I received. I'm not saying it was racially motivated, but I am not saying that it is not!!!! Btw, 2 of the 6 egg rolls had several strands of hair in them. So either way, I...
