The Breakfast Nook is my first review of a restaurant south of I-80 (Jan 2019) 🚗 🛣 🍽 I chose this location based on a Google Maps recommendation and many 5-Star reviews, and I'm so glad I made the short trip to Mokena! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 👍 I ordered my go to selection; flank steak and eggs, toast, and a side of pancakes. The meal was very reminiscent of the same meal at The Country House in Alsip - another one of my favorites. The steak was juicy, tender, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Yum! 👨🍳 👏 The seasoned diced potatoes were a terrific option that didn't disappoint. The pancakes were also very good. The place is small but the food was packed full of flavor. As a whole the meal was among the best breakfasts I've ever had. 🥩 🍳 🥔 🍞 🥞 ☕ 😋 👍 I ordered biscuits and gravy to go, tried them a day or two later, and found them to be probably the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Another reviewer called them "dang good" and I have to agree. Double dang good! 🤤 Service was as good as the meal - in a word, excellent. 👏 🏆 Breakfast and lunch are served here, and most meals on both menus are under 10 dollars - what a bargain! If you stop by for breakfast check out the dozen or so early bird specials. 💲 😁 👍 The Breakfast Nook is indeed small, but it's also warm and cozy. Located in a small strip mall at 191st St. and 88th Ave., it's definitely worth the drive. If I'm in the area and hungry for a great meal, The Breakfast Nook is #1 on my...
Read moreThis place is a bait and switch. They offer an early bird special, but when you get there they tell you it's actually dine in only. Specifically absent from their ads. The dining room is the size of a closet so takeout is preferable. Also the prices on their website are way lower than they actually charge you. The food is average breakfast food, it's just sad that they feel the need to deceive their customers. The dining room is small but clean.I had the denver omelet, pancakes and hashbrowns. The food was all average. The coffee was just ok. The server is friendly. But the check out lady is quite rude, especially considering their false advertising. She likes to blame the customer. The location is convenient and they do seem to have a drive through. It seems this pricing issue, which can be almost 40% more than advertised, is driven by greedy ownership that is just desperate for business. Why else advertise specials and then charge way more than even the...
Read moreI met with a friend 1 week ago at this restaurant, my first and last. I rated 1 star because some type of rating is required. My friend and I meet at least quarterly to catch up over breakfast . We ate and were catching up when the waitress came over and stated, “I apologize, we need this table.” We were astonished! I’ve never been asked to leave a restaurant for other patrons to be seated!!! Never!!! The worst customer service ever! I called to speak with the manager that same day before closing and was told she’s out of town. I called back that following Monday and was told she’s out of town still, but the message was given to her. I called today, a week later, she is with her daughter who delivered a baby early. Not to mention, there is absolutely NOTHING spectacular about the food. I’d rather dine at the Egg n I, longer wait times, but 100% better customer service....
