š® A Flavorful Fiesta at El Cortez ā First Time, but Not the Last!
I stopped by El Cortez Mexican Restaurant in Mokena for the first time, and it was a total win from start to finish. Right off the bat, I decided to try a new beer (for me) called Coronaāand wow, was it refreshing. It came out ice-cold with a fresh lime wedge, and it paired perfectly with the warm chips and salsa they brought to the table.
The food arrived fast, piping hot, and full of flavor. I ordered the carne asada tacos, and they were incredibly juicy with just the right amount of spice. Everything was seasoned to perfection, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming.
What made the experience even more fun was the lively, colorful atmosphere. The walls were decorated with vibrant Mexican artwork, festive string lights, and upbeat music that made it feel like a mini fiesta. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in just enough to make sure everything was great without hovering.
They even had a margarita menu that looked worth coming back for, and I heard thereās often live music or karaoke nightsāwhich Iāll definitely have to catch next time. The menu has something for everyone, from sizzling fajitas to hearty burritos and sweet churros for dessert.
Overall, El Cortez hit all the right notes: cold beer, hot food, fast service, and a fun vibe. Iāll absolutely be backāand I might just make Corona my go-to...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were seated right away. Chips and salsa came as we sat. Had to wait for the server to appear and give a table their check and check on another table. Before asking what we would like to drink. With me choking on the chips and salsa (hot). Asking for water. We then waited 7 minutes for him to return after bring our drinks just to take our order. Knowing what we ordered for our entree. I wanted my plain with a side of cheese sauce. We ordered an appetizer combo. Wish I knew that the quesadillas came with pico and cheese. I sent my food back. Only to have them scrap off the toppings then put on grill. There was still some topping left on my food. Plus my rice was cold. The server came back told me I didnt order what I knew I ordered. Dared to argue. I only order a few items from a Mexican restaurant. Had to ask for more to drink. By the time my food came back. The side of beans was cold. This is not a good first experience. Thankfully, we...
