We had dinner at Conco de Mayo last night, and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement! We were expecting good Mexican food with a 4-star rating, but we got mediocre food at best! How could anyone rate this restaurant is beyond us. It was lucky to get three stars. Let me explain why.... We ordered our drinks and were served salsa & tortilla chips. The salsa was a watery tomato sauce that was more closely linked to soup than salsa. No chunks of anything, not even tomato, and definitely no flavor! So we asked for drinks (ice tea & beer) and an order of guacamole (large). When the guacamole was delivered, it was what I would consider to be small to average sized - definitely not large. Worse yet was the guacamole its self. It was not what I would call guacamole. It was just mashed up avocados, with no flavor! No tomatoes, no onion, no cilantro or lime. Totally flavorless! Not guacamole at all. The tortilla chips were OK. We ordered the carne plater and the Texas Fajitas. I guess they knew what we were going to order because it took absolutely no time at all to be delivered to the table. I'm talking lightning fast! We were totally amazed at how fast the food was delivered, which makes me wonder just how it was prepared. I'm sure I don't want to know. The Carne was suppose to be cooked "medium " bit it was so thin, how could it be cooked to order like that. Worse yet, my wife likened it to shoe leather (sole). We did take it with us and our dog did enjoy it. My fajitas were actually very well done and quite tasty. Not enough sour cream or "guacamole" (ha ha) though, and only three small tortillas and no cheese. Lastly, we asked for an order of fried ice-cream, but we were told they did not have the ingredients to make it. What? Really? Fried ice-cream is just ice-cream, corn flakes and honey. What a joke. The service was very good, and our waiter was very attentive and was the main reason they got ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ instead of two. Over all, the meal was fit for human consumption but only just barely. Lack of flavor and spice. If you love bland Mexican food, this is your place. If your looking for flavorful Mexican food,...
Read moreHadn’t been here in a few years since I moved away, came in with my two sisters while down for a visit and was sad how disappointing the service had gotten. We asked for individual salsas two spicy and a regular, they brought them barely half way full, as well as the bottom of the barrel chips that were mostly tiny pieces, the regular salsa had absolutely no flavor to it, tasted just like stewed plain tomatoes so i asked for an exchange for the spicy salsa, my sisters also asked for another one bc they barely filled the ones they brought in the first place. The server offered more chips but said we had to pay for extra salsa. I have never been to any Mexican restaurant where they were so stingy on giving salsa. It would be one thing if we weren’t ordering anything else bc I can see people coming in and filling up on chips and salsa, however serving hardly any to begin with and then making a big deal about exchanging or asking for more and being told we can get extra chips (despite the tiny basket of broken pieces they gave us first). Also the “large” queso was very small and that bowl was also half filled. Especially when we are paying more than enough for our food. I mean they charged $10 for a small side of shredded chicken for a child also. If they need to save money in some places, they could give less tortillas with the small amount of Texas dip they also serve, they seem to be more generous with that then anything. They also didn’t bother to tell me there was a $3 service charge when using a...
Read moreVery disappointed in their willingness to correct their mistake. I ordered takeout and gave them my name. My son picked up the food and came home with the wrong order. He did not know the order and heard the young lady say "2," which he knew was the correct number of dinners, asked if the order was for Rogers, and the girl responded "have a nice night." By the time I arrived home, an hour had passed. I called and they said our food was sitting by the register and if we wanted to bring the wrong order back we could pay the $13 difference for the correct order... That would have been sitting there for over an hour by the time I arrived. I understand mistakes happen, but I believe businesses should try to make it right. When I explained to the manager the situation that I ordered the food and sent my son, who did not know the order, he began lecturing me on sending my son to do my errands, stating he wouldn't send his son. I was already going to pay the price of driving 15 min and picking up cold food, they definitely could have met me in the middle and not charged the difference. Instead, the had 4 wasted dinners and refunded the original $25. They lost money in that interaction, and consistent customers in the future. But the manager couldn't understand why we were upset, since I sent my son to pick up the food. Very...
