Food just tastes better when it feels like it was served by family.
We are no stranger to S&S Moncks Corner. We almost know every server by name. Somehow, last night's service and meal was so phenomenal, I'm inspired to leave a review.
We own a small business nearby. After closing at 8pm, my entire staff was in desperate need of good food. We arrived at S&S by 815, knowing exactly what we want to order, and knowing that if the kitchen would have us, we would be in and out before closing (9 pm). We were immediately sat with Mackenzie. We expressed our deep gratitude on taking us and we let her know we don't even need the menu, we can get in and out as needed. Let me tell you. The sweetness in which she let us know that it was not an issue we were there "late", that she is happy to serve us, and we don't need to rush, really felt like stopping by family's house for a quick hello but staying for dinner and quality time.
Funny enough, we did need a menu because the special had sold out for the day (congrats!), but our second choice was still absolutely delicious. Our drinks were never empty, the food was hot, we were checked on often, and our party of five left before 9 pm with full bellies.
We had a few employees check in with us. One even offered a pairing of sauces that go well with our meal. The little moments of interaction tell me that S&S cares about each plate offered to their customers, and cares about the experience we have with the food.
We also absolutely adore Richelle. She zips around the restaurant like she's on a mission. No matter the curveball we throw her in our orders, she has always brought our food to us perfectly. We look for her every time we visit!
I will end with saying: -Never skip the brisket burger if they have it -The brisket plates are a great second choice. -The salads are HUGE -Get extra crackers if you order the pimento cheese. It's a generous amount! -Their seasoned fries will make you steal from other people's plates, so...
Read moreOn Saturday, August 24th, my family and I visited the newly opened âSwig & Swineâ at 547 Reed Hill Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Located at the Hidden Cove Marina, this Swig & Swine location is conveniently accessible by both car and boat. The venue itself is impressive, boasting a modern and welcoming building and staff.
Appetizers:
I started with the Jalapeño Pimento Cheese and crackers, while my son opted for the traditional Pimento Cheese. My daughter had the Pork Puppies, which unfortunately were overcooked. Despite this, they were still tasty but could have been much better.
Entrée:
My daughter enjoyed the Chicken Wings, while enjoyable, the dry rub was far too salty. Her Mac and Cheese was notably dry, quite possibly the driest we've encountered. She also had The Big Nasty (Chopped Brisket Sandwich), and the Swiggy Punch.
My son had a selection of sides including Mac and Cheese, Baked Potato Salad, Baked Beans, and a half pound of Pulled Pork. The Mac and Cheese, once again, was quite dry. The Pulled Pork was well-prepared and satisfying. He had a Coke.
I had the Pulled Pork Patty Melt, which was very flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was, you guessed it, dry. The Baked Potato Salad was very good. I had a Coke.
Dessert:
To cap off the meal, we all had Peach Cobbler with Ice Cream. This dessert was outstanding. It was delicious and a favorite with everyone.
Overall Experience:
While we encountered some issues, such as overcooked Pork Puppies and overly dry Mac and Cheese, the experience was generally positive. The Peach Cobbler was exceptional. Despite a few missteps, we plan to give this location another try in the future. Our waitress was Jen, she was very nice, polite, and did an excellent job. The total bill, including a tip, was approximately $140 for...
Read moreMy review is based on a 0-5 score that includes quality, atmosphere, value, taste, and service. Letâs begin! Quality- I felt the quality of the meat is what was the lowest of my scores. You want a good balance of fat and meat with all your different meats but I feel the brisket and ribs was a bit fattier than I like. Again I need to mention this is MY preference. Atmosphere- was amazing and actually canât wait for it to warm up so I can come back around dusk and enjoy the dock and maybe see a gator or two. Love the entire atmosphere but location is a bit off the path but certainly doesnât take away from this great place. Value- was my highest score I posted at a 4.5 because I fed 4 adults right at about $100 bucks which is pretty good for barbecue with appetizers. This didnât include any drinks but I donât drink. Sorry. Taste- I addressed the brisket and ribs but letâs me tell how AMAZING the smoked wings are!! I recommend just dry rub and donât ruin the amazing spice and smoke flavor with sauce. Pulled pork is the star of the show and recommend it highly. By the way shout out to the manager and staff for making sure we had a chance to try it as they do run out and I see why. Service- lastly the service was great and please donât take my 4 stars as it not being a great service but I donât just give my 5 star to anyone ;) the staff was amazing and so friendly. Checked on us frequently and my cup was never empty.
