Normally I really like this place, but today my friend and I were turned away because her permits expiration date did not match her birth date. Apparently they have been trained to spot these as "fakes". As I understand, DRIVERS licenses are set to expire on the persons birthday. However, on Oregon's government website, it states that instructional PERMITS are set to expire 24 months after the ISSUE date, not necessarily on the persons birth date, except by coincidence, which it clearly states.
Now, they do have the right to refuse service to anyone, and I can respect that. But this, I feel, was not justified, and I believe the way the manager handled it was not ethical. The bartender was sent to "google it" and found nothing, so I'm told. However, when I searched on Oregon's state website I found the information necessary to serve my friend, and so did a patron next to us, but the bartender and manager refused to look at our phones, and refused to check the website on their own computer. It just didnt look good. Not to mention my friend has been served by the same people multiple times before, because its a small, local town. But regarldess, they should know the laws, and this little piece of information that they were "trained" to spot is important. A lot of people could be turned away for their lack...
Read moreSuper disappointed in the service I received here tonight. I picked up a to go order for two meals. The waiter I spoke to on the phone asked what sides we wanted. I asked what sides were included. He said “tater tots, fries, a salad, onion rings, or mozzarella sticks”. One order was tater tots and the other was mozzarella sticks. I went in to pick up my order and he charged me before I saw the receipt. The mozzarella were $6.00 and we were unaware. After I looked at the receipt and he finished getting my food together, I asked him “when I called and asked which sides were included you said mozzarella sticks, but I was charged $6.00 for them. So they weren’t included. I also was charged a fee for a to go order?” Normally it would be fine because it’s not a big deal, but with the tone in the voice response I received wasn’t okay. I then got home and my avocado on my sandwich was super browned, and my tater tots were rock hard. I always heard this place was great, but I would not bring my business back...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place, since I've heard some good reviews about the food. The service was outstanding. The gentleman behind the counter was welcoming, polite, and hospitable. The selection of tap beers was quite extensive. However, I was there to pick up a tasty bite to take home. This is where I was left so disappointed that I don't see myself returning. I decided to try the special, which was a Reuben Sandwhich. I couldn't take a bite without pulling most of the chewiest, toughest corned beef I've ever experienced out of the sandwhich with that bite. Also, it was on white bread instead of the traditional rye that you would use for a Reuben. The type of bread really does make a huge difference for this sandwhich. I tried to eat the layers separately, but unfortunately couldn't finish even half of what I ordered (which is rare because I'm not one to waste my money on uneaten food). My review is: Go for the beer, service, and TV if that's your thing, but...
