Food was excellent. Everything we got was well-made and fresh. Quality and flavor were noticably better than what I expect for standard Chinese take out; everything was a notch better than our "regular" place.
I could actually taste the flavors and spices--orange in the orange chicken, ginger in the dumplings. The chicken and beef were tender with no grisly bits.
Everything was great, but our absolute favorite dish was the General Tso's tofu. We asked for it medium spicy and it was just perfect.
Overall, fabulous food! Portions were generous and the food was ready and hot when I picked it up.
Staff was kind and friendly and helped me with a couple small issues (use of coupon, missing item). It took a little bit of time to get things sorted out, but these kind of things are just normal growing pains for a new business. A little more training and confidence-building for front desk/cashier staff would be a good step.
I'm really excited for this place. I think it has the potential to be super-successful.

Read moreI must highly recommend this restaurant - truly the best! We ordered Hot and Spicy Chicken and Beef with Broccoli Luncheon Specials, with egg rolls and fried rice. We ate at one of the two tables. Blown away by the fantastic flavors. The chicken was delicious, with a lovely, umami-rich, spicy sauce with flecks of pepper. The wok flavor of the chicken came through, making it really good. The egg rolls were the best ever - shatteringly crisp, with flavorful, almost creamy filling. Spouse returned to the counter, and ordered two more orders of egg rolls for us - and he doesn't really care for Chinese food! He also ordered dumplings to take home. Thin, fried crisp, with a little chew and great filling. The dipping sauce put them over the top! They made a great snack hours later. Spouse wants to go back, and so do I. Worth the trip from Sun Prairie! Please support this couple with your business. They are doing things...

I have a niche interest that I don’t get to explore as often as I’d like to— trying different cultural foods in countries that are neither where I live nor the country where the food originated. As such, I found that this restaurant provided an answer to a question that suddenly became critically important to me as soon as I saw the sign for La Choza Del Viejo— “what does Mexican-American Chinese food taste like in the United States?” — an even more nuanced question than is typically answered in these scenarios.
The answer to the question is that it tastes excellent! We got veggie spring rolls (with packets of spicy mustard sauce) and kung pao chicken and both were absolutely delicious. I’ll be returning and would love to try more...
