For starters the Dashing Diner just opened this past summer so any reviews before that time are from the Main Street Diner, Just Saying... My Husband and I have been there several times, the first time was just after they opened, and the food was mediocre at best. The omlets we're over cooked as was the home fries and toast after asking for them to be lightly cooked and toasted. We chalked it up to a new cook some time past and we went back... Same story food was over cooked even after asking for home fries and toast to be lightly cooked/toasted, oh yeah when you order coffee you only get one cup unless you Ask for more. The staff is not very friendly, infact at times down right rude.so more time passes we go back One more time which was yesterday just to make sure we weren't rushing to the wrong conclusion This time I ordered a burger and fries, Yep, the burger was over cooked and the fries were close to being burnt,my husband's omlet was over cooked. Granted we got there about a half hour before they closed but we didn't know that. We were served the last two cups of coffee which tasted like it had been setting for quite awhile was never asked if we wanted more. Then a guy that works there started putting the chairs on the tables and proceeded to sweep the floor while my husband was still eating.Needless to say We will NOT RETURN TO the Dashing Diner. I Gave the Dashing Diner a good try, and I was Hoping this time would have been Great or at Least Good, but Mediocre at best. The Place itself does look Nice. So now you know why they only get one star, I Wish we would have had good food and good service and a...
Read moreWe visited Dashing Diner around 9 AM on a November Saturday. It was busy but we waited only a few minutes before getting a booth. Menus were on the table so we could start looking at our food/drink options right away. It took several minutes for the server to get to our table for our order, but it wasn't any fault of hers. She was busy; I think she had four tables seated at the same time. However, she had an electronic "order pad" and once we ordered, I think it went directly to the kitchen staff. The food arrived soon after placing the order. It was hot and delicious...and just enough food to satisfy our appetites without causing us to overeat or leave food behind.
The atmosphere and decor reminded me of childhood restaurants or eating at Grandma's house. There were tablecloths and other linens hanging under shelves that looked like some that belonged to my grandma. And the toys on the shelves were just as nostalgic. I found an Easy Bake Oven like I had back in the 1960's.
An extra bonus for us were the veterans seated around the place (it was Veterans Day and they were wearing their service caps) whose meals were being paid for by other patrons. Proud and emotional moments for everyone there.
I'm glad we stopped here and I look forward to...
Read moreA friend and I were in town, about an hour away from our homes, and wanted to check out a local restaurant. We got a recommendation for Dashjng Diner from a firefighter that we bumped into. The food was delicious! I ordered the turkey bacon melt and did an up charge to get cole slaw as my side. The cole slaw was homemade of course. My friend got a reuben and did the potato chips as her side. It was a good amount of food, neither of us could eat quite all of it. The sweet tea is brewed in house. So good! Sorry unsweet tea people, I didnât look to see if they had unsweet. Our server was sweet and very personable. She said we have to come back before 11am next time to try the French toast. I will for sure be back, I want to try a couple more menu items. The decor is adorable, we kept looking around and finding new antiques to point out to each other. Fun antiques, stuff that our grandmothers would have had in their homes or grown up with. They played Elvis, Buddy Holly etc. You could hear the music but it wasnât so loud that it interfered with conversation. Located on South Main St just south of the main light (State Route 37 & US Route 62), east side...
