We stopped by on a chance on the way home from Detroit. We had been trying to go to a Thai restaurant in Detroit, but the parking was a nightmare so we continued southward and ended up in Monroe. Wow! What a great find! The waitress was very polite and seated us quickly. The restaurant wasn't too over-stimulating in their decor. We appreciated how clean it was. The prices were fair with their portions. We ordered our standard order that we always try with new Thai restaurants to compare them: chicken pad Thai, Tom yum soup, Panang chicken curry, and Thai fried rice. We didn't have to wait too long, maybe 5 minutes. The gentleman who served us our food seemed to be one of the owners. He was quiet and humble, but the smile from his eyes lit up the room. Just with what his eyes seemed to be communicating, dinner was going to be fabulous. The food did NOT disappoint. The Tom Yum soup was well flavored, balanced, and good spice heat that tickled the back of our palates. The Chicken Pad Thai was one of the best I've had in a very long time. I loved the ground peanuts, fresh bean sprouts, lime wedges, and cilantro that adorned the food. You know the pad Thai will be great when they use very fresh ingredients. I overstuffed myself with the pad Thai, it was that good! The Thai fried rice vegetables (onions) still had a little bite to them and were not soggy. This is fact that I appreciate. I like when I can identify what I am eating. My son ate most of it which shows me that it was well balanced with rice and flavor. He would have eaten it all, but he was too full. Last, but not least, the Panang curry was my trip to heaven! The spice was amazing. Well balanced, they had plenty of vegetables in it like broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers, all of which still had texture and bite. They were not mushy and falling apart like they can get at other restaurants. I would have finished it, but my stomach was full. Portion sizes were adequate, not too big or small. We are new to Michigan/Ohio area and this has been by far my favorite Thai restaurant. I will be coming back frequently when in the area. This seems to be family owned and run. I look forward to my...
Read moreTwo visits and 4 dishes later, this is my new favorite go to for takeout in Monroe.
Visit one was just after their grand opening. They were out of chicken at the time, and very apologetic about it. No big deal, went with pineapple fried rice with pork, and Thai fried rice with beef. Both dishes were super delicious, rice cooked perfectly, good, fresh flavor. Spring rolls come in a pack of 4, and have a fantastic sauce that comes with them.
Visit two: sesame chicken has got to be, quite possibly the best I can remember having! Wonderful flavor and texture. The chicken pieces were small and thinner cut, and the breading on them was JUST enough, leaving a Slight crunchiness to the bites- NOT huge chunks of overly battered chicken. Also got the sweet and sour stir fry with chicken. Now the taste of this was different than I have had, but very good. I am guessing and just trying to describe the sauce here-it reminds me of a Thai brown sauce, but with hints of a sweet and sour taste to it. So not as sweet or thick (if you like sweet and thick, like a Chinese sweet and sour chicken would be, then know this is not what you will get.) I'd recommend giving it a try, as the flavor was interesting and delicious, and I'd have it again!
The portions are a bit smaller than most Thai places. Not at all a problem, as it's still the right amount for a dinner (although I could eat more).
I think pricing is fair as compared to other Thai places I frequent. Some dishes may run a dollar or two higher but again, not a problem. You may say, a bit expensive and smaller portions, no way, but I'll take good, delicious quality food at a slightly smaller portion and a few bucks more over a larger portion of cheap food that is just meh.
The inside looked very clean, and there was dine in as well. The young lady at the register was very pleasant as was the person on the phone during ordering. I commented on the delicious first meal we had there and she was genuinely pleased to hear the feedback.
If you're looking for something different, or some good THAI food, this is the spot! Highly recommend, and look forward to trying more...
Read moreAlways great food, service-seasoned perfectly (especially for palette adjusted to mild or no heat/spice) but reoccurring problem is with primary ingredients missing in dishes. Example of reoccurring problem is the green curry dish which main ingredient is eggplant. I specifically order it for the green curry and the eggplant. Yet 2 out of 3 times (yes, 2/3rds) of the time the eggplant is just missing. I really like eggplant. It's such an unusual ingredient in food. We started calling ahead or checking before ordering to ensure that there was eggplant and that it wasn't forgotten or just unavailable for some other reason in this favorite green curry dish. Unless a specific ingredient is requested to be omitted from a dish, the dish should be prepared as noted on the menu. Hawking over a major ingredient in a dish is tedious, which isn't what a diner should be required to do when ordering an item straight from the menu with no special tweaks requested. The other dishes that are great - only other two which we order are the pad Thai and the coconut based Tom soup (ka, yum? Whichever is coconut based ) and both are always great. Service is good and the Thai iced tea is a real treat. There are the pre dinner treats like the rolls and the triangular fried spiced pork with this side dipping sauce - both are great but the light, sweet dipping sauce is excellent. If not for the reoccurring eggplant issue + the need to verify ingredient availability in the green curry this would be a solid 5...
