Everything I purchased was pretty good. However, my wife and daughter are pretty darn Great Cooks and Bakers next to Gourmet I think, but I'm biased, so I tend to be more critical of my excursions to bakeries and out to restaurants when I eat like a king at home.

Great selection of Pre-prepared dishes and sides, albeit $$, but more economical than a night out. With that, I purchased Lorraine's quiche which was pretty good. Great breakfast quiche. The crust is like homemade. The consistency wasn't quite as fluffy as just made fresh, but maybe I'm wrong. Also purchased a lemon poppy seed cake which is also good. Could have used another tablespoon of poppy seeds I think, sprinkled on the top for effect, and within it.

I'm not the biggest fan of king cakes to tend to be too much frosting on them along with its rolled contents,..... so very rich. I tasted one I've never tried before: that is a cream cheese and Peach!. Now it's pretty good and it's been rolled really thin layers, so it's very delicate. With that, the combination of the peach with syrupy base, along with the cream cheese, makes the cake a little bit too "wet" I think. Anyhow, if anyone cared, I would just say use fresh sauteed peaches and then strain real well, and then add it. The next time I'm just going to try their regular king cake maybe even without the sour cream or just sour cream.

Bought a dozen of chocolate chip cookies , they're okay, actually better than most any of the bakeries around town. Anyhow enjoy, seems like a great bunch of folks that run the place. I am sure I will be...

I was a loyal customer for a long time but will no longer buy from this business. I paid a deposit for catering for a relative’s wedding but the relatives decided to go with someone else. So, I called Thurman’s to apologize & cancel the order. Deposits are nonrefundable but they said I could order something. So no big deal, I ordered chocolate covered strawberries for the wedding day. I called the day I was to pick them up, they didn’t have my order but said they were making it. Still, no big deal so I went to pick up. On my way, Mr. Thurman calls & rudely tells me I ordered these strawberries for a different day. I told him I ordered them for the same event, the same day (I’m assuming he just wrote it down wrong) then he gruffly says they’re making them anyway so come pick up. Okay, so he just wanted to call & make it clear that he thought I was in the wrong...which I don’t ever recommend doing to a customer. But, still not a huge deal. Maybe he had a bad day! So, I pick up strawberries & even buy a cake out front. When I got to the event, I was embarrassed by the food I brought. Strawberries looked awful & were molded. I’ve done years of business with Mr. Thurman & have seen lots of prepared food & this looked terrible compared to what I’ve previously purchased. I had been a loyal customer of Thurman"s and i buy most of my birthday cakes and other sweets from them. This year was no exception. I decided to buy a carrot cake from Thurman's on 7/16/22 after sampling their carrot cake cupcakes in the past. I picked up the cake around 11:00am and immediately took it home to sample it. The cake was dark, the nuts were dark inside, unsweet, salty, hard, and not decorated well. It didn't taste like their cupcakes even though I was told prior the same mix is used for their cupcakes as their cakes. I contacted Thurman's that same day around 12 noon and spoke with two people before speaking to the owner Mr. Thurman. He advised me to bring the cake back. I took the cake back to Thurman's . The owner examine the cake, cut a slice, ate it and said there was nothing wrong with the cake, it was good cake. I asked for a refund , Mr. Thurman refused. He also didn't offer any options to correct the issue. It was too late to order one from another bakery that day so I had no cake on my birthday. No one ate it so it got trashed. I will not return to spend any of my hard earn...
