Let me start with the positives.

Mexican style potatoes, rice, beans, and salsa.

Great flavor on those sides.

However, that's where the good flavors end... The lingering taste of rancid oil still comes to mind. I've been to smaller shops that keep fresh oil on circulation, but this was terrible.

Maybe some people are used to the flavor, but it was definitely off.

I had machaca con huevos and it was more of a scramble of just egg onion and shredded beef without much flavor beyond the bad oily taste. I'm not talking about being greasy.

My wife had chilaquiles Verdes, which used the same rancid oil-filled chips to cover with their amazing green salsa. That was the best part of the dish, the salsa! In chilaquiles the eggs and chips shine together with the salsa.

My son wanted two carnitas tacos... He was only eating his rice. I asked what was wrong with his tacos and he said it tasted disgusting...normally, I would shrug it off as a picky 6-yr old. I grabbed some of the meat and again the same rancid taste--dry, too!

Maybe it was an off day for them? Or the 4.6 stars on here where from loyal customers who eat the same safe dish day in and day out?

Who knows?

The service was amazing!

The ambiance is okay.

If the Mexican potatoes, rice and salsa weren't so good, then I would definitely give them a 1...

Looking for Mexican cuisine in the area with large portions, hospitable staff, and incredible food? Look no further.

La Adelita is a small restaurant just off of Myrtle, but don't let its size fool you. Considering I just ordered two tacos a la carte, the portion sizes are very generous and oh so tasty. I ordered the fish taco and the soft carnitas taco: the fish taco's charred flavor was on point and the carnitas taco's richness packs a wallop way above its weight. The free chips and salsa are also not to be taken lightly... both are so fresh and have a great kick in flavor and texture!

Eating as a party of four, the wait time for our respective orders was about twenty or so minutes... the wait time is worth it since you will be kept fed with the chips and salsa!

Supporting local businesses is always a must, and this is one definitely...

Great and very Friendly customer service. Good size portions. Great Chips, but and most importantly to me the salsa is amazing, the pico de gallo is good but their regular salsa is very flavorful and distinct, it has a good kick which is important to me but the flavor profile is not like your regular salsa, I am still trying to figure out what chiles they used. As someone who has ate mexican food his entire life, being of Mexican heritage, I usually find it hard to find food that's to my liking, so far I've only had the Carne Asada Torta which was really good, but I'll definitely be coming back for their chiles rellenos and menudo, will update...

Customer service was great. The food was good too, but some of the items lacked flavor. The red sauce chilaquiles had no flavor. The sauce seemed like water with red pigment. The only way I was able to get it to have flavor was using the pico de gallo salsa and pouring it over and it made it slighter better. Furthermore, I had a cafe de olla, and to my knowledge and experience, it’s suppose to be sweet, and unfortunately it wasn’t. I was disappointed. On the other hand, the machaca with scrambled eggs was really delicious. The meat was tender and tasted good. I also had the size of potatoes and they were good too. Oh, they also serve mimosas.
