I picked up food. A family member wanted buffalo wings. I get home, it's fried chicken wings with a sauce on the side. Okay. Not real buffalo wings, but I'm not going to make an issue of that. One 5 piece is in tact. Open the 10 piece, and it became apparent that this is a 5 piece. They generously added an extra (had it been a 5 piece) wing, so there are 6. I call the place. I accept that my dinner will be cold. I call down to the establishment to let them know that we were short a few wings and if they can pop them in the fryer now, I will be driving back over to pick them up.
I get in the store, and they have not prepared the missing wings. They guy tells me that he looked "at the camera" and determined that he had put "6 wings in the package". Okay. Pregnant pause. What are we saying here? Are you making this right, or are we going to have a whole debate over 4-5 chicken wings? He tells me to call my family and have them open the packages to count the chicken wings, because he gave me "3 boxes". I immediately inform him that we received the 3 boxes. One was onion rings. The other was the five piece. I had ordered and paid for both. The third one had what I had determined to be a 5 piece at first glance, but actually contained 6 wings. He just stood there staring blankly at me.
What is so hard here? 5 wings + 6 wings plus onion rings does not equal 15 wings. In addition to burgers and chicken sandwiches, I ordered a 10 piece of buffalo wings and 5 piece of garlic parm wings. I kept waiting for him to make it right. He keeps repeating himself about putting 6 wings in the box. That's genuinely generous, had I ordered a 5 piece, but I ordered a 10 piece, the price of which is nearly $20 bucks. Missing half the order is an issue.
He tells me that from now on "you are going to have to open up the bag and open up each package before you leave." First of all, there won't be a next time. Second of all, the responsibility is on the establishment to provide me with the food I ordered and paid for. Don't try to project that back onto me.
He other fellow fried up the 5 wings which I dutifully brought home for the person whose meal was messed up. I then went to my classic crispy chicken sandwich. It consisted of two slider sized sandwiches rolled in tin foil. They were mushy and not crispy. They were gross and inedible. I have spent years going to Halal shops, Picken Chickens, Giovenelli's and Acki's corner stores to get proper fried chicken sandwiches. They were usually about $2, and they were amazing. Fresh, hot, crispy and tasty. These two little balls were mushy and just not worthy of consumption.
I had gone here to support this place when it first opened. This was my second time in, but it will be my last. I am so turned off by the bait and switch (2 little mushy sandwiches when I ordered one crispy one and fried chicken when the menu says buffalo wings) and the awful customer...
Read moreI walked in with my boyfriend tonight expecting to go through the regular take-out motions: Placing an order, paying for the food, waiting for the food in awkward silence, and then getting handed the bag and shuffling out the door. Instead, we were immediately greeted with smiles and enthusiasm from the owner who was behind the counter cleaning up and preparing to cook the next order. He eagerly awaited as we ordered, asking us for any modifications that we wanted, and calling out to us with questions about our preferences as he went through the cooking process. We sat down to wait, and were immediately brought some lentil soup on the house, which was delicious. Creamy, hearty, and welcoming after coming in from the particularly chilly evening. After that, we were brought samples of a sandwich to try, which we turned down because we are vegetarian and the sandwich had meat in it. No problem, "you like rice pudding"? the owner asked. We nodded and were handed a sample of rice pudding, which was so refreshing and also quite comforting. After a few minutes more of chatting with the owners of the restaurant, we were brought our main dish: Falafel Sandwiches. As vegetarians, we have had our fair share of falafel, and there are definitely some really good falafel out there, and some really really bad falafel out there. This sandwich far outweighed any falafel that I've had in the last few years. The bread was nicely grilled, the tahini was incredibly creamy and well spiced, the hot sauce was just the right amount of heat, the falafel themselves were crispy but melt in your mouth tender. It was truly a fantastic sandwich. We were also give two fresh falafel with more tahini on the side, straight out of the fryer, made fresh for the vegetarians. Those were also divine. We walked out with very full, happy stomachs, and a newfound favorite neighborhood restaurant. I will be coming back with more friends and family for sure, for both the customer service and the...
Read moreIv’e been meaning to review this for quite some time. This place is usually on par. So far the best falafels I had in New Jersey coming from someone who ate in journal square, Jersey City, and touched some of North Jersey. Don’t worry, I reject most of New York falafel scene. Just not hitting.
This was delicious. The owner never thinks I order here and we just share a laugh. Pricing is excellent. Journal Square needs to get some lessons from this place. The falafel was cooked with care and craft. Fish fried well. Never had their chicken. Eventually, I will get there. The menu has so many options. $40 will leave with with two full bellies..
Today this was needed. (Dealing with my aprtment issues yeah. The Essex as usual yesterday… a flood in the laundry/utility area then needing to go to my job having to carry my gear back and forth for the next couple of days) along with trying to prepare for a large change next week.
The genuine, wanting to give the best experience was heartwarming. I asked for the rice to be switched with fries. I was given a sample of fries and had the rice. The rice was great. The fries was also amazing. Was even given a cookie. They always give you a great value of food here and look to treat you like family at a Sunday dinner.
This takeout literally helped relaxed the needing to go home angst feeling I had. In the world of reputation management the easiest thing to do is gain a negative feedback to be called out online. I made it my duty once, and for all to leave a feedback for this place.
I am glad I decided to stumble in one late night so...
