Chicken & Shawarma Express — Restaurant in Montclair

Trying a new place can be a hit or miss. But this spot is cool. One of my friends was craving shawarma and fries so she google searched exactly that and found this place- and we took a chance on it. I walked in, and the place was empty, but I figured it’s a new business. So it’ll happen. MIT didn’t bother me. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the two guys that were working. I didn’t catch their names, but they were very friendly and laid back. They immediately gave us menus and sat us down to figure out what we’d like (I honestly was expecting a way less nice place that didn’t really offer a dine in experience). My friend got a shawarma sandwich and the fries she wanted- and was in love with her dish. I ordered the chicken over rice. It had A LOT of rice. It tastes great. The bbq sauce pairs very well. My only complaint was that there was so much rice that I could only get half way through the entire bowl of it before I was full. I also had a banana smoothie that was very good- it was natural. Not overly sweet or anything. It’s very pure- which made it kind of subtle. It can probably be improved with some other natural sweetener. That aside, my meal was incredibly satisfying and the staff were too friendly to ignore. I wish this restaurant lots of future success. The staff was very nice and the place was spacious and clean with nice seating and bright lights. Located is a convenient location. Street parking. I was disappointed in the quality of food. I received a lot of rice with very little chicken. The meal was served with 3 very some pieces of pita and that's it! It was a very American fast food style. I guess I was expecting good, simply Arabic food ! I at least thought that it would come with a full pita and at least some of the pickled vegetables. As I states before, the staff was wonderful. Unfortunately, the meal didn't hit the spot! I work for Largest Airlines. This part is in response to the owners response. I travel all around the country and the world for a living. I have enjoyed great from all over the world. So thank you sir for stating the fact that I travel around the world. Because I do. I don't always give my reviews right away. Please don't get mad. I am not trying to hurt you. I just know that you can do so much better. You have a great clean spot. Your staff was very nice! including tip, I spent $62. my two meals were almost all rice. How can I ask you for more pita on a take out order? I wish you success...

I can’t say enough good things about Chicken & Shawarma Express! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The beef shawarma is absolutely delicious—juicy, well-seasoned, and wrapped just right. You can taste the quality in every bite!

On top of the amazing food, the service here is outstanding. Susu, the owner, goes above and beyond to make every customer feel welcome. She treats everyone like family and genuinely cares about the experience. That warmth and hospitality really sets this place apart.
