I eat here WAY too much....and drive from Walnut/West Covina area to do so. Almost everything they have is good to great with a reasonable price tag, so it's no surprise that it's almost always busy.
If you're new to the area it's a full buffet with a full Mongolian BBQ in the middle. I say full buffet cause it's not just Asian food but has cheese enchiladas, meatloaf, etc. What gets me back is the Mongolian BBQ, the ribs on weeknights and prime rib on the weekends. They offer various additional seafood options at dinner as well but that's not my thing. I think most Mongolian BBQ's are similar but I've got two tricks to make my dish stand out. For one, I go to the salad bar and add jalapeños, and since most of the watery sauce burns off when cooking, I go and get some of the ponzu sauce for the potstickers and put that on AFTER. That makes this Mongolian BBQ a notch above the rest. I can't remember if I reviewed Paradise Buffet before but my biggest pet peve is that they slide the dishes around on the big "fry wheel" (whatever the heck it's called) and your stuff is cooked right where someone else's was. I hate curry, and if someone put curry in there's before you that'll ruin my dinner. I REALLY wish they kept everyone's food in their own spot when cooking like Fire and Ice does down in Anaheim. I was gonna give this review 5 stars, but now that I think about it I'm gonna knock it down one for that.
They recently changed their weekday pork ribs from an American style sauce to a more Asian style "sweet and sour" which I'm really liking a lot. It's a unique sauce that's way better than sweet and sour ribs you'd get at a Chinese restaurant. And usually their ribs are thick and meaty, although my last trip they let me down on the quality a bit. I'd say half to 3/4 of the time they get really good ribs that have almost an inch thick amount of meat per rib. Even if the amount of meat is sub par on occasion I never feel like I'm losing out.
I like their Chinese chicken and Greek salads too. I'm happy they have blue cheese dressing for a mixed green salad but it needs to be thicker and with more chunks, or I wish they had separate blue cheese crumbles like at Golden Corral.
They also have a really big dessert island. The cinnamon rolls are pretty good when they're fresh. Some old dude complained once about the soft serve ice cream machine but I like it. I like soft serve that's more "icy" than "creamy" if that makes any sense, he was probably the other way around. They also have hand scooped ice-cream so you can't go wrong.
All in all this place is great. If you're new to the area I would say it's a must see. If they addressed the things I mentioned above and/or added some spicy tuna or crunchy rolls I probably wouldn't eat anywhere else!
P. S. A shout out to Veronica, she's a total sweetheart who will chat and offer to grab you dessert and such. Most servers there are pleasant if quiet. She stands out and you better tip her if...
Read moreI love it here 🥹 The sfaff is so polite. Lemme share my favorite food combinations. They have cooked squash I like to have it with the beef strips cooked with onion and soy sauce and some sesame oil salt and pepper. And the squash again with some vanilla ice cream on top as desert🙂↕️ I liked the vanilla, strawberry and coffee ice cream. I loved the clam chowder soup it was so good you have to try it! If you take some mac and cheese and walk to the salad bar and add shredded cheese and go to the mongolian cooking area and add some salt and pepper and some hot sauce and mix, its delish. The brocoli salad is my fave, it has craisins. I add shredded carrots and brocoli, red onion, jalapenos and lettuce and lots of brocoli sprouts and mix. The german cake is probably the best cake there its chocolate with coconut🥥 all the other cakes suck. The carrot cake frosting tastes saltylike cream cheese,I do not reccomend. Highly reccomend you ask for the meats they cook for you in the mongolian bowls in the middle. I prefer the female workers at the mongolian area, the male doesn't wipe down the grill and the taste and the food of person before carries over to your bowl when it cooks. 🥲 They have shrimp, beef, pork, and chicken strips. I really Iiked the fish and rotisserie chicken, they well cooked and well seasoned I reccomend those. They also have a non breaded fish option. I was so disappointed by the baked potatoe, they leave it out for too long and it gets dry🥲 Too bad it looked good with cheese and bacon bits. Wish they had serve me a fresh baked potatoe I really want one with sour cream and onion🥺 Start your meal with a small salad and then eat meat and then your pasta/carbs and desert. You won't feel as stuffed and can eat longer. I ate so good here today. Bus boys are so nice here they offer to bring you drinks if you have a blue cup🥹🥹🥲🫶 He offered me milk with ice for my slice of cake. Best day ever, big back heaven here but you could totally eat keto here if you wanted to. Spent 50 bucks for me and my 2 parents they got a senior discount because...
Read moreToday Sept 27 2015, Came here with my parents tonight at 7:30 pm. They were very busy and as my experience in the kitchen it is hard to keep things in great condition. I was in line for the flat-top circle grill. I politely informed one of the workers that they are out of oils and sauces and asked them if they could restock. There was a nice response but no motivation to get the sauces refilled. They took 5 mins to even start restocking. My dad who was there before I was in line was not given his plate that he made, the order was mixed up(no problem things happen) and someone else received the plate. My father restarted in the line and was irritated that his plate was given to someone else, with the sauces adding to his iritation my father left the line and but his bowl of raw meats on the dessert counter. One of the employees left the grill to confront my father by which he left 3 other bowls on the grill. With my father's anger they were arguing back and forth and my dad decided to go back in line. The same employee that confronted my dad took his bowl to start cooking it. The employee suspiciously turns and hold the bowl close to his mouth and spits in it With me watching him do it. I was disgusted and went to talk to a manager to discuss some issues of mine. 1 as an employee working in the kitchen you never deal with customers that are pissed, you inform your manager. 2 being on your phone while cooking is unsanitary and unsafe . Especially not washing your hands right after. 3 while I'm public eyes you need to act professional at all times. That means don't mumble rude comments about customers to your co-worker. Another issue I had with them is when I was talking the the manager don't roll your eyes at me when I'm complaining and tell you that it's unacceptable and I know my serve-safe. I have the 5 year mangers edition. If you don't like that a 19 year old has that get over yourself and complain the the California Conservation Corps. Will...
