🔥 SeD Cocina, Montclair – A First Visit Turned Instant Classic 🔥
Pulled up to SeD Cocina with my QUEEN and our two young kings, not knowing this spot was about to become a new family favorite. Let me tell you right now — the food? Next. Level. No fluff, no gimmicks — just real-deal flavors that slap you with every bite.
👑 The Queen went for the Chilaquiles Rojo with Chicken — and oh man, they were fire. The red sauce had that perfect balance of heat and depth, the chicken tender and juicy like it was cooked with soul. She took one bite and gave me that look — you know, the “we coming back here” look.
🌮 My oldest got down on some Breakfast Tacos with Rice and Black Beans, and washed it all down with this beast of a drink called a "Dirty Horchata" — creamy, spiced up, and smooth like a Sunday morning. That drink alone is worth a repeat trip.
🥞 My baby boy got the Kids Pancakes, and they were soft, buttery, and made with love. No corners cut, just good old-fashioned breakfast done right.
🍲 And me? I had to test the soul of the kitchen — so I ordered the Menudo. Bro… they understood the assignment. Deep, rich broth, perfectly tender tripe, and just the right amount of heat. Felt like a warm hug from someone's abuela.
0 complaints. 100% satisfaction. From top to bottom, every plate hit hard. The service was chill and welcoming, the vibe was right, and the flavors were legit. SeD Cocina ain’t just serving food — they’re serving memories.
Would I recommend it? HELL YES. Pull up hungry and leave with a full belly and a happy heart. This spot’s...
Read moreWe decided to give the new Mexican restaurant SedCocina a try — and honestly, it turned out to be one of the more disappointing dining experiences we’ve had lately.
We were seated fairly quickly, but it took a long time before anyone came to take our order — not even water was offered at the start. It seemed like the staff were more focused on a private social gathering happening in the restaurant than on their paying customers.
I ordered the Surfin’ Burrito, while my wife went with a Torta and a drink. Unfortunately, the food didn’t deliver. My burrito came out early but was overly salty and had only a couple of shrimp pieces, which made the $19 price tag feel unjustified. To top it off, chips weren’t included — which is a surprise for a Mexican spot at that price point.
My wife’s torta wasn’t much better. While the meat was okay, the fried cheese was extremely salty, and the rest of the ingredients didn’t come together flavor-wise. Her dish cost $20 but only came with what looked like store-bought chips.
The total came to about $70 with tip for just two entrées and one drink, and sadly, the food quality and service didn’t justify the price. To make matters worse, one of the staff members was even on a FaceTime call on speaker with their family — right in the dining area. It was loud, unprofessional, and left a bad impression.
Overall, SedCocina has potential, but the poor service, overpriced menu, and lack of attention to customers make it a spot I wouldn’t recommend — at least not until they improve both their food and...
Read moreAs frequent customers, we know what to expect here. The food will not disappoint but as we left today we left with a feeling of not wanting to come back. Election Day we came in at around 10 am, we went ahead and sat at our normal spot and that’s where the bad vibes started from the waitress. It seems as if we may have offended the lady by seating ourselves. She took our order, failed listen to our order and was walking away as we were talking. She missed my drink order and figured I didn’t order anything. Very careless on her part. If we asked for salsa, she gives this crazy eye to the salsa already on our table and we notice it and explain that it’s the matcha salsa we want, seemed like we were bothering her with our request. Not once does she come to check on us, nor to refill my coffee cup she brought late. By the time I got her attention I asked for my coffee to go and she charged us both again for “to go cup” a 4oz paper cup. Ridiculous. This young lady should not let her personal feeling affect the way she treats her customer base, especially if she knows we are frequent customers. Thai place is too new to be treating customers badly, and until we get a response to this instance we won’t be promoting this place to our friends let alone returning to it ourselves. Everyone has bad days, don’t take it out on...
