That 80's Bar — Restaurant in Montclair

DO NOT GO HERE: WORST BAR EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE Came here with my siblings to celebrate my birthday. Mind you we did NOT drink, we just wanted to dance at a nearby bar. The little torta that checked my ID had the WORST attitude. She asked if my ID was fake and I told her no, it’s because I live in New Mexico so it’s different from my siblings. Then she asked if i had a problem with her and threatened that I won’t be able to go inside??? Trust me, i was confused too. My sister was watching the interaction. She is like a mom, so she would put me in check if im in the wrong. My sister asked what is the girls problem, all i did was answer her question and thats when both of the girls working the front got loud with us. Now, my sister DONT play, so of course shes gonna get loud too. One thing led to another, the girl threw a pen over the desk in our direction and a whole brawl at the front went down. Those 2 girls hid behind security. 2-3 MEN on each of my sisters AND the security was fighting back. I had 2 men man handling me when I was trying to get the others off my sisters. My brother was trying to separate everyone (he was in a knee brace) and one of the security guards tried to put him in a head lock so he pushed him off. My brother was upset because he just wanted the security to let go of all of us girls so we can go home. At this point we were trying to get them off of us. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED OUT FRONT. Once everything was almost separated that same security guard hopped over everyone and punched my brothers face. MIND YOU MY BROTHER WAS TRYING TO SEPARATE EVERYONE. So here comes round 2 of the brawl cause ain’t no way we’re gonna let him get away with punching our brother in the face for no reason. That’s when the security guard started pepper spraying me, my sisters, and my 1 brother who was in a brace. NO we are not the rowdy type of family. Everyone that knows me and my siblings KNOW that we are NEVER ones for violence. We are definitely a social butterfly type of family and I will confidentially say we NEVER in any type of drama. We wanted a good night as siblings to celebrate my birthday and it all went down hill because the torta in the front thought I had a problem with her and the other one was bold to call out my sisters and throw stuff. I cannot believe each girl had 2-3 men on them, and my brother got punched in the face when HE out of all people was trying to help separate the situation. NEVER will we ever step foot over there again, I never recommend this place, we tell everyone about our experience there, steer clear unless you want high school has beens working the front to pepper spray you and punch your face. AND REMEMBER, all of this with no alcohol in our systems. We honestly wanted to celebrate and dance...

No street parking but you are allowed to park across the street in a parking lot... Even though signs state "No Parking" at the entrance gate of the parking lot. When we called to make reservations, we were told to park across the street. We asked again when we arrived (no cars were parked there) They reiterated to park across the street in the parking lot. I needed to make sure, I did not want to end my evening with a parking ticket or towed.

You scan a bar code from your table or go to the bar and order. They recommend ordering using the bar code for faster service.

They accept cc and if you pay with cash there is a discount.

We paid with cc, easy to scan the bar code, order then pay all in one transaction. I started to leave a cash tip when my friend directed me to look at the receipt from when I scanned and ordered, the tip was included as well as tax on the tip. It was confusing because when I was directed to pay using the scan, there was an option to tip, for ex... 18%...20% as well as a tip that was already included plus tax on the included tip. The already included tip was what I was going to tip in cash so no biggie there. Just need to know beforehand.

Drinks were fast and delicious!

The atmosphere was superior! The immersive surroundings, excellent. Yeti was AWESOME! He came around several times, adding something different each time. Stopping to take selfies with everyone. The waitress....Great

I went for a The Cure cover band on Friday 9/2/22. I really wanted to love this place because there's so much potential but the evening went from bad to worse really quickly. First, we were a party of 20+ folks and wanted to sit together. The venue would not under any circumstances allow us to hold any tables even though we were there before the doors opened and the place was dead for the first few hours. Even when the band went on stage there were empty tables available. The security staff repeatedly harassed us that we couldn't even put purses on empty tables. We would have gladly given up saved tables if there were a need but like I said, the venue was not packed and there were plenty of available tables should the need arise. There was no AC and the limited ceiling fans were not doing anything to cool the place down. It was hot, and smelled like mildew. The wait staff never came by our tables to take orders but since the place wasn't packed, we were able to get drinks at the bar. Not sure why they have wait staff if they aren't going to do the job. The bar also refused to provide cups of water and instead charged $6/per 16.5oz bottle of water...in a place with no ventilation or AC. When the band finally did take to the stage it was about 11:20pm and we were ready to pack it up by then due to the above mentioned issues. In all there were over 20 of us and we stopped buying drinks after 1-2 rounds because of the poor management and overall lack of professionalism or care for customers. I'd say this venue lost out on over $1500 in revenue for the evening from our party alone due to the above mentioned issues. If I were the owners, I'd be looking into why management is literally turning away money by enforcing policies that don't make sense. We'll...
