Rafael's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Montebello

Horrible food, horrible experience, and expensive for a simple dish. I got 2 beef stews to go (they call it "cocido") and the meat was hard to chew, like rubber, $25 for this? My daughters were hungry and this was the closest place. Long story short, we brought the food home, one "cocido" went to waste since it was like chewing gum and horrible flavor, like dried blood, and the second one back to the restaurant, we didn't touch it. Maria Luisa's favorite word was "Yo no se, Yo no se", we told her that we did not want to describe this nasty experience on an internet review and Maria Luisa said to "write whatever as everybody writes whatever they want", she said she would have the person in charge call me to return my money at least for the one we brought back but this ghost manager never called, supposedly someone called "Alejandra". We waited for days and called back, this time Marisol answered and promised she would have an answer the next day, she never called back. We waited again a couple of days and called back and this time "Delmi" answered, again, "Yo no se, I don't know nothing, I just work here", she was going to give the message about the refund to her ghost manager and yes, you guessed it right, never called us back. They never let us talk to the owner and never resolved the issue, is this place so miserable that they couldn't return $12 and keep the customer? I even wonder if the owner knows the employees are doing these kinds of things....

After a long day we were very hungry I told my wife let's go the Mexican restaurant by L.A. Fitness she yes. The restaurant called Rafael's Mexican Restaurant I look it up on Yelp they have good reviews the after we walk in the restaurant. The hostess greet us then show us the table hand us the menu and order our drinks. We we're looking at the menu and decided what to order. She a combination plate two chili renello comes with rice and beans. I order a combination plate also it have a chili renello,hard chicken taco and a cheese enchilada also comes with rice and beans. The waiter brought us chips and salsa they very good nice and warm and the salsa was good and little bit spicy.

The waitess brought us our meal it looks fantastic and the aroma of food incredible good. My combination plate looks so impress including crunchy chicken hard taco was good made from scratch that home made it remind me of home made cooking. The cheese enchilada was very cheesy good with good flavors and chili renello an other classic I like very much the flavors are good and chile wasn't spicy but very cheesy and rice and beans were both good incredible flavors in both sides.

THE MOST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN A RESTAURANT, THE LADY WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE OUR ORDER WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE RESTAURANT HELPING EVERYONE OUT, ON TOP OF THAT, SHE WAS TAKING OUR ORDER AND RUDLY INTERRUPTED US FROM TAKING OUR ORDER BECAUSE THE PHONE WAS RINGING AND DIDN'T EXCUSE HERSELF TO GO ANSWER AND IT WAS A PERSONAL CALL, LIKE REALLY? HOW CAN SOMEONE DO THAT AT WORK!!! I WAS ABOUT TO WALK OUT OF THIS PLACE. BUT IT WAS LITERALLY THE ONLY PLACE OPEN AROUND. SHE TOOK SO LONG TO EVEN TAKE THE MENU TO OUR TABLE AND WAS TAKING SOME GIRLS ORDER THAT HAD JUST DONE A WALK IN, SHE HAD A REALLY BAD ATTITUDE, IT WAS JUST A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCED BY BEING MY 1ST TIME IN THIS PLACE THAT I WILL NEEEEEEVER COME IN AGAIN. YOU SHOULD HIRE MORE STAFF THAT HAS A BETTER ATTITUDE AND CAN ACTUALLY DO THE JOB AND DON'T MAKE YOU LOSE CLIENTS, OR THAT DON'T ANSWER PERSONAL PHONE CALLS AT THE JOB PHONE.
