Chappy's Deli - Perry Hill — Restaurant in Montgomery

I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant, but This morning, I decided to go to Chappy's for breakfast. The hostess proceeded to seat me. The closer we got to the back of the restaurant, I was thinking maybe he thinks I'm with this family we were headed towards. Then when I get to my booth,I turned around to see how many empty tables and booths we passed to get to the back and I noticed the sea of Caucasian faces and the back wall of black people. I mentally checked myself, "Maybe it's you? Don't start jumping to conclusions! Check one more time"... I stood there so long that the hostess said "Do you want this other booth?” Which was also in the back. I told him no, I sat down and I looked across the room once more. I was in such a shock that I didn't hear the waitress ask me my drink order then I stared at her because I couldn't get the words to come out. I tried to say something, but I couldn't. When I finally did, I said I'm going to leave. She said what's wrong? I said "I'm going to go."because I could feel the rage and the tears to come. I got up, walked out, and by the time I made it to my car the hostess met me there asking "What's wrong?" I just stated "I'm leaving." He then started to explain that he didn't realize what he was doing and that he was only spreading out the guest to make it even for his waitresses. I said I'm leaving, he apologized and handed me a gift card and went back inside. I sat there looking at my compensation for is segregation. Not only did I not tell him why I was leaving and he somehow had an explanation, he also had a $10 gift card ready by the time I made it to my car. It was enraged even more!!! Chappy's Deli is wonderfully incredibly good. Anyone can tell by the crowds on any given evening that it is an extremely successful restaurant in Montgomery. I frequent the Perry Hill Road at Carmichael Road location myself. I am confident all of the other locations are equally as good. I cannot give them high enough praise. I thank the owners for providing us with a restaurant of this quality.

07/13/2019 It is apparent many people are viewing this review. I never " write " anything I do not mean. Chappy's Deli is a wonderful treasure for Montgomery Alabama. Obviously my opinion is not important because the restaurant is busy all the time and not many restaurants in our fabulous country can say that. If you trust my reviews, I cannot recommend Chappy's Deli any higher. 10 February 2023 Chappy's Deli is still there and busy as ever. If you are new to the Montgomery area or you simply desire a delicious lunch or dinner in a comfortable atmosphere, this is an excellent option. Instantly directed to sit in both 30 customers 6 waiters Sat 8 mins ignored by all staff while new walk-ins where taken care of. Finally a waiter from outside realized I haven't been served at the 8 min mark. Placed complete order while talking to waiter. Cheeseburger and diet coke with fries. Drink brought out at 10 waiter kind to offer free cookie for troubles. Was able to walk outside to smoke while I waited for food. Atmosphere seems cool just not sure if it's my age or impatience with ordering food and service workers now adays. Not speaking from privilege worked countless hours doing the same. The server a young gentleman seemed kind and professional only reason I didn't walkout earlyer. Main reason for trying this place was I was waiting on another adult I dropped off for an appointment. The establishment seems well suited for a quite place to eat and catch up. Food at 17 mark server was awesome. Eating here alone though is boring so I just watched some old man clean the fish tank.
