In my opinion it's like the McDonald's of Mexican. They do express well, time from ordering to being served is relatively quick. However the salsa is straight forward tomatoes, onion and salt, no cilantro or pepper variety that I could detect. The chips are light ( thin) and crispy. Pepsi products are featured so you can get a Mountain Dew. The sweet tea was a good strength and flavor, it might could've used a tad more sugar as I always take mine with lemon. The mini chimichangas were odd , not bad but just sorta bland. Served 2 or 4 to a dish with either rice or rice and beans, with the rice and bean dish being .50 more with the 2 entree version. Shredded mexican mixed cheese is melted/toasted over them and there is a yellow sauce on the interior chicken and a brown sauce on the plate, which basically makes the doughy tortilla easy to swallow. But again not much actual flavor is involved. My daughter ordered the fajita and best described that unpleasant experience of burning corn shell as a bad plan. There really should be a metal spatula beneath the corn tortilla shell that holds the rice so that it can forgo the strong burned smoke that leaves the rice unfit for consumption. There was meat and onions , a lemon portion , and a tomato wedge, but no peppers of any kind on the hot skillet in a small portion. The salad (lettuce, more diced tomatoes, and shredded Mexican cheese ) was served in a small ( think banana split sized dish) leaving no where to actually construct the fajita. The was a small portion of sour cream and another of guacamole in the smallest plastic to go containers( like may be used for seasoning or salt). There were no condiments on the table, but I did notice some other customers had acquired them . I did like the round microwavable tortilla shell holder verses the foil you might get elsewhere for the ease of getting the next one out. Our server didn't check on us once after serving the food and seemed as though my request for a to go drink was inconvenient. I won't be returning.

Regulars at Cocos since they first opened 20+ yrs ago on Eastern Blvd. Really miss this location as Chantilly & now Downtown are not very convenient... but we still go about once or maybe twice a month. Absolutely love THEIR thin & crispy chips with THEIR homemade chunky salsa that is not mind blowing hot. Has a great taste. Their menu is different being they are considered Tex-Mex. You MUST get something that has what we call brown gravy on it. The their nachos are delicious and done individual instead of piled high. The staff has always been friendly, remember the regulars, & rarely a turn over.. which speaks well of owner/mgt. Only thing that aggravated me & it's not just this Mexican restaurant is being charged for it sour cream or extra sour cream when it's barely a tablespoon. Sour cream isn't expensive at grocery store and the restaurants buy in bulk. Come on folks you're making a fortune on the drinks like Coke & tea. In the past they've had nightly & kid specials. Not really sure if they still do this. I hope you will enjoy it as much as my family has over the years& if so tell others. That's how we got hooked on Cucos.

We were shopping at the gun store in the same complex and it was close to dinner time so we decided to try this restaurant. It was our first time here. It was just before 5 pm so there weren't many people there yet, though it did fill up as the dinner hour progressed. The typical chips and salsa were placed on our table. Very generic. Salsa was bland. Chips light and crispy. We ordered the combo fajitas for two. It came with our own beans and rice. A separate plate of sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese. I've never seen cheese served with fajitas. The meat tray had shrimp, pork, chicken and beef on a bed or grilled onions and peppers and it came sizzling because of the citrus squeezed over it. The tortillas were hot and fresh. The meats were really good. The beans and rice were fair. Nothing spectacular. The service was fast and friendly and the place was clean. Their bar was really cool. It was a lot of food and we walked away quite full and with a to-go box. All in all, not a bad experience. Still, fairly white guy Mexican food, but good.

I used to work here as a server so I feel I can give you an insiders review. Cuco's has THE BEST CHIPS and SALSA in the USA HANDS DOWN! Both are made fresh daily in house. The chips are made before the lunch crowd arrives and kept warm in a large warmer. The salsa has large chunks of fresh bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions. I love it because no other restaurant has chunky salsa like Cuco's. I've had EVERYTHING ON THE MENU at least 5 times but my favorite is the sour cream chicken enchiladas. They are to die for! After a long shift I usually would get the steak which is served on a fajita skillet with sauteed onions and your choice of rice and beans, or fries. I always get the Chipotle sauce to go with my steak, it's great together! As far as appetizers, the sampler platter is what I recommend because you get a sample of just about every appetizer on one plate. The chicken nachos and macho nachos are off the chain as well. My wife usually begged me to bring home an order of chicken nachos after every shift. They're her favorite. For kids, my son who's 9 now loves the chicken fingers and they're really good, I've had them myself many times and the honey mustard they Cuco's has is awesome too. That's a big deal to me if I'm getting chicken fingers you must have awesome honey mustard. It's so good I usually eat my fries and several other items with it as well. For dessert you must try the fried ice cream and the sopapillas. I highly recommend Cuco's Mexican Cafe if you're in the Montgomery area. Oscar the owner is a very nice man that's been so awesome to me...

Beware!!!! Be careful or you could die!!! Absolutely terrible customer service! I called in a pickup order and once I get home I found out that they had put jalapenos on my mexican pizza. It's fine for me but my fiance is allergic to them. It says no where on the menu about jalapenos being on the pizza. I called and explained I didnt want a refund or for it to be replaced because it is too far of a drive to come back there. I simply called to let them know that they shouldn't put items on the food that aren't listed on the menu because someone could get sick. The managers attitude and response disgusted me! She said that she can not change the menu, that the only one who can change the menu is the owner. Well how about serving the food as it appears on the menu! As a manager your job is to treat the business like your own. Not once did the manager apologize and shrugged it off like it was nothing! Apparently the manager Angela does not have kids because I know that she would be very upset if her child had to be taken to the hospital for an allergic reaction at no fault of her own. Thank god the peppers were placed on top to where we could see them or this could have been really bad. A manager is a reflection of your restaurant and because of her attitude I will never go back and will suggest all of my family and friends to never spend a dime with this restaurant! Hopefully the owner will look into this and hire someone who has the restaurants best interest at hand. Word of mouth is the best advertisement you can have and it can also...
