My friend and I went to Jim ‘N Nicks on Atlanta Hwy in Montgomery, Alabama on 3/17/23 at 3:50 p.m..I ordered the 2 lbs. rib dinner with mac n cheese & baked beans. When the food arrived the macaroni & cheese was cold and the baked beans seemed to be 2 tablespoons full, lukewarm and tasted NASTY. About 3 of the ribs were center cut and the rest were big end pieces filled with hard bones and gristles throughout the rib bone and they were just barely lukewarm to cold. I asked the server to please warm the mac n cheese and swap the baked beans for Cole slaw. I explained the ribs to her as she was looking at them. She got the manager. I told the manager the ribs are lukewarm and several pieces will be difficult yo eat due to the gristles throughout the bone. The manager gave her explanation as to why I was served those ribs. I asked her why would they serve those hard end pieces with bones and gristles throughout the rib(s). The manager said she would fix the order. The server returns with lukewarm ribs on a cold plate with 1 sliced pickle. I really wanted to send it back, but I figured there’s no sense in continuing a feud with people who’s fixing your food. My order was $27.48. That’s entirely TOO MUCH MONEY for food (1 Meal) that’s not prepared and presented properly. WHY would you put a cold scoop of mac n cheese in a dish and present it to a customer to consume? To the manager, please understand customers deserve center cut bones and bones that are easy to bite and pull the meat off!!! Also, please tell your servers to at least look at the mac n cheese. If the cheese appears dark orange & stiff, the MAC N CHEESE IS COLD!!! This was our first time returning to Jim ‘N Nicks in months due to poor service such as receiving cold ribs on a hot plate & catfish filets cut in half.

A Safe, Delicious Find in Montgomery While passing through Montgomery, we were just looking for a good meal in a place that felt welcoming—and Jim ’N Nick’s BBQ delivered on both. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere put us at ease. It felt like a safe, clean, and comfortable spot, which was a real relief after driving through areas that didn’t exactly give off the most secure vibe. The food was solid—classic Southern BBQ done right. Everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying, and the portions were generous. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff was genuinely friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. To be fair, Montgomery seems to be working on revitalizing itself, and there’s nothing against the city itself—every place goes through ups and downs. But finding a restaurant that offered both good food and a sense of safety made all the difference during our quick stop. Jim ‘N Nick’s turned what could’ve been a stressful search for a decent meal into a genuinely enjoyable experience. If you’re passing through and unsure of where to stop, this is a great choice.

We love Jim and Nicks, but the service has declined over the past few weeks. I have taken a notice that I have seen less of one of the employees bartenders/servers. I’m not sure if she still there or not, but she has always been the best server and bartender and we look forward to going there and seeing her on our lunch breaks during the week with my coworkers. I’m not sure if I will be back. They seem understaffed? I mainly only order take out and when I do I ask to speak to her because I know my order will be correct. She know how to make the southern peach drink right, she knows how to make the nachos right with enough sauce not to dry! She makes sure I get my silverware/cutlery. I have left recently without getting or seeing her and I had to go back and it was infuriating when you live all the way out in Pike Road or if you work all the way downtown. I am very picky and she gets me. I want my server when I find a place I like and if my server leaves I follow them from place to place to make sure I get great service I hope this doesn’t happen because I won’t be back or my NPO company. Servers are the face of a company and good ones are hard to find or I do think eat out. I also have a dietary restricted child and she always makes sure the isn’t any bread for that child’s order or onions in the kitchen before it reaches me. I like that ALOT! I also catered food her several times and I place my order only through her weeks before to make sure it’s perfect. I am very disappointed when she isn’t there. The hours I dine in or carry out os the afternoon 12-3ish. I don’t dine out I am not a big restaurant diner but i frequently attend two take out places twice a week a this is one of them. I highly recommend Michelle Stevens. If you haven’t already had her then you can...

UPDATE: December 29, 2022 - This is an updated review of my experience on December 23, 2022. The manager, Mr. Brian Benson, contacted me personally. Apologized for the behavior of the staff members and offered to comp my entire meal. This gentleman was professional, displayed excellent customer service, and know what it is to run an successful establishment. The food and more importantly, customer service are what I remember mostt. And yesterday didn't disappoint. I truly appreciate Mr. Benson going above and beyond to right the wrongs of the less-than-favorable experience I encountered on December 23, 2023. Job well done! 👍

December 23, 2022 - I ordered this food online and I purposely waited 15 minutes after I received a notification that the food was ready, just so I didn’t have to wait an extended length of time after arrival at the restaurant for my food once I arrived. I hoped to walk into the restaurant grab my food and go. As I was notified that my food was ready for pickup. However, when I got to the restaurant, they did not know my order although I had already paid for the food and the notification said it was ready for pickup more than 15 minutes prior. Still, I had to wait for an additional 10+ minutes to receive my food. And the way the food tasted was not up to par. The staff was not very friendly and very dismissive and quite condescending. I will be taking my business and money elsewhere as I refuse to deal with this type of customer service. I will not be visiting Jim and Nick’s, located on Atlanta Highway in Montgomery, Alabama, ever again. The next time I will heed the reviews online and not go to an establishment that has low reviews. My mistake and I will not make that...
