I’m a big Korean corn dog fan so when a friend pointed out that KimCook is making them I had to go this very evening to try it out.
The long and short? Disappointed all around.
Note: this place is extremely expensive for what you get.
First up, I had to argue my way into getting fresh corn dogs. They had some on “display” that were made at lunch time (I was there at 6pm) and I wasn’t about to take 6 hour old food home. The corn dogs felt like they’re from frozen or they’re not cooked long enough, something was really off. I wouldn’t be shocked to find out that they’re not battering and dipping these in store. 2/10
Bulgogi bowl, is overpriced but flavorful. They don’t provide soy sauce so you’ll have to have some at home. But the price for quantity was outrageous. 6/10
Pork dumplings, felt like they’re fried from a frozen pack. While flavorful these were unlikely made in store. 5/10
Wings, these were so sad. First, they charge you extra for the sauce on the wings. Who does that? They’re soggy and not crispy at all. I could only eat one of them. The flavor of the sauce is really good though, just a disappointment all around. 2/10
Plain steamed rice, it’s ok. When testing a restaurant I choose some of the most basic things. Steamed rice is one of them and it felt like it had been sitting out all day. Just sad that something with next to no flavor could be even more flavorless. 1/10
I wish I had a more positive review to give especially for a place like Montgomery that’s starving for food that isn’t pizza. This town is a total disaster when it comes to...
Read moreWent to this place just recently because I'm updating my last review that I did from them. Went there a couple days ago and the food was delicious. It's sort of a fast food Korean so don't respect a lot of flair. You can eat in or take out or order it for pickup. The staff is very nice and willing to bend over backwards to help you with anything that you want or explain anything to you. Menues very small because of the prices of food have gone up so high. Such a sad thing for these restaurants. We had the beef bulgogi, squid bulgogi and chicken bulgogi. All three were very delicious and the squid and chicken were on the spicy side so be sure to let them know if you don't like spicy. This is cooked authentic way. We also had the pot stickers and they were a little bit on the small size but for $2.99 hey you can't be picky. They were very tasty. She even added in some Korean tea for us to...
Read moreIt's not a super authentic korean food served here but more of fusion types for quick meal/snacks.
We've tried hotdogs with half sausage & half cheese. This was very disappointing.. We thought it would be half & half side to side together as to be eaten at once, but it was top half chess and bottom half sausage... was not satisfied and felt like wasting of money on this part.
Korean chicken is really good, it tends to be a little less meats on bones, but the batter and sauce are good. This is one of our favorites.
I never tried spicy rice cake yet personally, but I heard it is really good. I'm going to try soon!
Besides hotdogs, I would recommend this place to my family and friends if you are searching for...
