Perennial is by far the most comfortable and cozy restaurant I have ever been to. Their decoration choices absolutely benefit their guests and the atmosphere. The choices they made for the establishment from the wallpapers, all the way down to the silverware, are nothing less than outstanding.
The service provided was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and made myself and my fiance feel right at home as though we were family coming by for a visit. They were very descriptive of every dish and what meals paired well with certain drinks.
And last, but not least. The food. Food does not begin to describe how wonderful the experience was. The first thing each guest should know when coming here is that a large amount of all ingredients and beverages are all sourced from right here in alabama. The menu is formatted in such a great way as to explain which distributer provides ingredients that go into each meal. It is amazing how deep the relationship between a restaurant and its partners goes.
My fiance had the satsuma honey chicken, and I had some of the seasons very last heirloom pumpkin soup. The meal brought back so many memories, and made me feel like a kid again. I was excited for each and every bite! And I think at the end of the meal my fiance put it best: don't cry now that it's over, be happy it happened in the first place.
Addendum!: I have been back to Perennial multiple times since I first made this review, and I have to tell you, it keeps getting better! They have a mostly winter time menu currently running and I had the cornmeal biscuits with honey butter and pumpkin jam, as well as the tuscan soup, with an order of sweet potato gnocchi.
The meal was absolutely fantastic once again, and the gnocchi was a standout favorite. Perfect temp, outstanding flavor and the plating is absolutely gorgeous. Please don't pass up an opportunity to eat here. You will never leave disappointed!
Secondary addendum: just went back again last night, and they keep getting better and better! I swear I don't know how they do it! I will say the restaurant was packed, but they kept everything coming out as fast as possible, and with as much quality as always! It's absolutely fantastic to see the restaurant...
Read moreFor a special date or occasion, Perennial Restaurant is the place. The food is fabulous, inventive, delicious, out of the ordinary. We had the honey chicken and the Asian greens with beans--all of it prepared perfectly. All their main ingredients are sourced in Alabama. Maybe that's why everything tastes so fresh! Their signature biscuit that came with pumpkin butter was dessert to me. This is a concept restaurant by Deanne Allegro. Visit the website to get the details. We loved the results from the food to the dining rooms filled with vintage furniture. I especially like the Shanghai Chic lush wallpaper choices. For real dessert we each had a float--homemade ice cream (either vanilla or sweet potato) in home-made root beer and apple sodas. When we left (it was Wednesday), all the tables were full. We did not make reservations and got there when it...
Read moreNo restaurant in Montgomery is doing it like this, for real!! The other "fine dining" establishments can eat their hearts out - this is the place to bring anyone you're trying to treat/impress/fall in love with. Beautiful space, attentive service, and all the food is delicious and so thoughtful, local, fresh, seasonal. They get their honey from the beekeepers literally across the street, cheese from dairy farmers in the Wiregrass, and the muscadine grapes from Pike Road. We were a party of six and tried a little bit of everything, but highlights were the navy beans and Asian greens, Alabama trout, the lady pea hummus, and the okra martini. Decor is stunning, bathrooms are gorgeous, and they have a little gift shop composed of adorable thrifted clothes that the owner has screenprinted with the restaurant...
